Yet another example of a true violation against separation of church and state, similar to when Connecticut, I think, was trying to get involved in Catholic Church business in Connecticut. Might this be testing the waters for something bigger down the road? If these churches didn’t have lay boards running so many things, instead of a priest or a community of religious, maybe it wouldn’t be so easy for the government to manipulate their business.
I found this in some conservative group e-mail notice. I wasn’t sure where to put this in Catholic forums, but government intruding on faith groups’ activities sounds like a social justice issue.
I’m not for groups of different faiths teaming up to bring peace or fighting injustice, because other faiths than ours are in error, but I’m for defending another faith (at least one of good will) against injustice by others, especially the government.
