So I tuned into “Deep in Scripture” a little late. They were discussing the Yet your urge shall be for your husband, and he shall be your master. verse from Genesis.

They were talking about how this verse was translated from the Greek and that (I think they were saying) it really means “You will try to control your husband, and he shall be your master.”

Did I hear this correctly?

I don’t know, but here’s the verse from the Septuagint:

“Kai tē gynaiki eipen: ‘Plēthunōn plēthunō tas lupas sou kai ton stenagmon sou; en lupais texē tekna, kai pros ton andra sou he apostrophē sou, kai autos sou kyrieusei.’”

And to the woman he said, “I will greatly multiply your pains and your groanings; you shall bring forth children in pain, and your submission (apostrophē, literally: “turning”) shall be to your husband, and he shall rule over you.”
