Yom Kippur and Matthew 16:16

I have heard speculation that Peter’s declaration in Matthew 16:16- Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” -

coincides with Yom Kipper, the one day of the year when the high priest enters the Holy of Holies and is the only time the name of God may be spoken, and what the Father revealed to Peter marked the beginning of his priesthood, thus allowing Peter to speak God’s name.

Is there any basis for this, or is it just wishful thinking?

Yes, Yom Kippur occurred on the 10th of the month (of Nisan?). The Transfiguration, which occurred on the 6th day after the scene in Matthew, seems to have occurred on the first day of the 8 day Festival of Booths. The first day is the day that the Jews would have built the booths. This first day, I believe, occurs on the 15th. If the Transfiguration indeed occurred on the 15th, it would have been the 6th day since the 10th, making it Yom Kippur.

I’m not sure if it was the first day of Peter’s priesthood, but at the very least, it pre-figured Peter’s priesthood.

Pope Benedict mentions this near the end of Jesus of Nazareth. I was reading this very section last night. He was mentioning how important understanding the Jewish feasts is to understanding Jesus.
