First of all, If your friend is angry and bitter at God then he is no athiest. He is just angry at life and blaming God for it.

We simple folks cannot logic God out. These great universal creation questions are not for us. Learn to feel God in your heart and help your friend to feel God in his heart through his association with you.

When your friend lashes out at God, simply reply that there mysteries about God that we don’t understand, just as there are mysteries that science cannot explain. There is much in science, accepted as fact, that is in reality taken on faith rooted in some mathematical or empiricological deduction.
Wherever science ends - wherever the scientist has to say, “I don’t know.” There is God.

Avoid foolish arguments . . . . 10 After a first and second warning, break off contact with a heretic, 11 realizing that such a person is perverted and sinful and stands self-condemned.

And your interpretation is why you’ll find that so many non-believers will not hear the Gospel from you.

Matthew 11:19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say: Behold a man that is a glutton and a wine drinker, a friend of publicans and sinners. And wisdom is justified by her children.

This is certainly true. I was pointing out the absurdity of his statement, by any definition. He was restricting both agape and phileo leaving only eros.

If you want to argue that there is no God then by all means put together and intelligent argument and get after it.

But to say that religion in general and Christianity in particular is to blame for the world’s problems is simply to show your complete ignorance of world history.

Have bad things been done “in the name of religion”. Sure they have. Will more be done in the future? Of course they will.

But beyond any shadow of a doubt the good done by the religious of the world has out weighed the bad by a 1,000 to 1.

I just don’t know how to talk to people. I did it the best I could, and for the first time ever I let him get the last word (what else could I have said, for do not cast your pearl before swine or they’ll rip you apart like dogs).

Anyway, an athiest friend of mine was saying how he was utterly lonely, and is so tired of it. I told him how wonderful God can be. Now we’ve argued about God before, but now he was very bitter. He also said that the idea of God is stupid, He cannot exist, He just cannot , it’s illogical. He was being very arogant, acting as if he is all knowing, that God simply CANNOT exist NO MATTER WHAT! God being Omnipentent, Omnipresent makes no sense nither, it can’t be explained. I just said that while science can’t prove beyond the shadow of a doubt God’s existence, niether can it disprove it. He thinks that’s silly. He said “what if I saw a spegetii monstor flying through the air, would that mean it exists?” I answered (perhaps this was my fault) You can’t compare the spegeti montstor with God. Mankind looks around at creation, the stars, the complexity of life, ever since the dawn of time, and ponders about a Creator, that makes logical sense. Why would one beging to sit back and ponder about the spegeti monster? What would the reason be? It seems like a childish statement to win an argument.

I understood his point, if you can’t prove there is a God, then you can’t prove there is a spegeti monster niether, and if one were to see it, then that doesn’t mean it exists, if one were to see a pink elephant, that doesn’t mean it exisits. He was comparing that to visons, all the times people have claimed to have spoken to God, His angels or the saints. i agree that not every single vision is probaly valid, but I don’t think every vision is invalid niether. …

I’ve talked with atheists before and what you need to do is to get them thinking about the possibility of the existence of God. Most atheists believe in evolution so the first thing I ask them is, “If man came from apes, then why are there still apes?” I mean if we came from apes there shouldn’t be any apes because they would have evolved into man.
Secondly evolutionist say that we are really animals and we are so much like animals, I disagree with this, I’ve never seen a Beaver using chainsaws or concrete to build a better dam, or a squirrel building a shelter for the winter. God has instilled in us a desire to grow, to be better than we were before and to help others, You won’t find a bird watching for traffic so that a deer can cross the highway. Tell your friend to look for the differences in humans from any other creature and he should be able to see God’s wonderful creation.

Ok, I’ll explain love to you. It is part of our reproductive system, our natural need to reproduce. Simple huh.

Don’t even try to say that religion is needed for humans to be moral, because then I will have to give you a thousand examples of how immoral religion is.

What you are describing is biology… not love. Love can grow out of the warm fuzzies that two people get when they are attracted to each other, but that in itself is not love.

Love is not self concerned, it is concerned with the other. True love gives of self when it hurts… when it’s not convenient… when it’s tired… when it’s sick etc. It is also quite a few clicks beyond basic morality.

Take Maxamillian Kolby as an example a Catholic Priest that was murdered by hitler the closet Catholic in a concentration camp. He asked to be put to death instead of a man with a family, and they obliged. He sacrificed his life so another could live. That my friend is love.

Explain that, because that has nothing to do with the reproductive system.
