I gather from this thread people pray the rosary while doing other things (such as walking or driving the car) and they break up the rosary into various sections (such as a decade here and a decade there) throughout the day.

I seldom if ever pray the rosary. Partly because I feel as though I have to be in a quiet setting such as in a church pew, or by myself in a room where I will not be i nterrupted.

Maybe I should rethink this. I suppose it is better then not praying it. Like many other people I am short on time. I have approx a 2-3 hour daily commute and work long hours. When not at work I am thinking/worrying about deadlines and such.
Mijoy, yes, it is great if we can pray at the church or have the whole time devoted to the prayer. We should try our best for it; if this is not an options because of whichever the circumstance you might be in, praying at any time can always be great. I remember some priest on radio said that our Pope John Paul II had urged us to pray wherever you are - riding on the bus, walking, etc…

Indeed, Jesus wants us to pray unceasingly, if we can have our minds thinking of God quite often, we have more chance to do things to please Him. This is because when we forget about Him, we tend to make mistakes.

If you are worried about deadlines and all, you can certainly mention that during your prayer. This has helped me a lot during my weekdays at work.

I used to say the rosary infrequently because of the same reason. I then went through a traumatic experience this past Christmas, and I tried to say it but could only get through a few decades because I could not keep my mind on ANYTHING for more than a few minutes. I kept trying and before I realized it I was saying the whole thing. I now say at least one a day.:yup:
I also find it easier while traveling to say the Divine Chaplet of Mercy as it is shorter than the rosary. I think a decade at a time would be great! (my mom always told me if I started a rosary when I went to bed and fell asleep before finishing, the angels would finish it for me:angel1: )

I pray the rosary every night before I go to bed. I also pray the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy during the day. Very powerful!!

I typically dedicate 20-30 minutes every evening to reciting the rosary.

However, I’ve been attempting to recite the Divine Mercy Chaplet every day before or after Mass. Since the chapel is about a 7 minute walk, I usually begin the chaplet while walking and finish in the chapel or on the walk back.

This truly is an excellent to spend our free time in prayer, instead or worrying about what’s for dinner!

i pray the rosary while commuting to work. and before bedtime, so 2 rosaries a day 🙂
at least!!!
3 on Thursday - Adoration
3 on Friday-Adoration
3 on Sat-Adoration
3 on Sun-Legion of Mary
4 on second Sun of the month-Legion of Mary and Curia meeting 😃

Also when my mind is troubled, i usually say a rosary (silently) while i am working.
or simply “O Lord Jesus Christ, I love you”

As Mother Angelica suggested, “Let’s every breath be a prayer to God”

Tak
That is wonderful, tptram! You go to adoration 3 days a week. Thanks be to God for allowing you to be there with Him and pray for all of us. 🙂

I used to think I was too busy to pray the rosary. I worked all day long; there was no time to pray. Well, I do have time if I know how to use every mintues of it.

For instance, it takes me about 5 minutes to walk to my car in my workplace’s parking lot. That adds up 10 min for the round trip. 🙂
I spend some mintues during the day walking back and forth the hallway from my office to another - about 3 mintues. And a few mintues to restroom and break between hour.

There, I have 15 mintues to pray the rosary. For doing this, it keeps me think of the Lord more frequently.

For the month of May, if you are a busy mom or busy boss, you can still be able to pray a rosary.

My moto: One rosary a day keeps Satan away.

How many free minutes do you have a day? 🙂

Thanks!
How funny you should post this. I was just thinking about this the other day. How much time do I really have to pray? Quite a bit! It’s just being willing to sacrifice other things in order to incorporate more praying.

Just want to take this time to let you all know, how much it warms a rosary maker’s heart to hear this!!👍 👍

Zooey, last week or so, there was a lady came to our Legion of Mary praying group and taught us how to make a rosary. I had thought it would be very complicated, but it turned out to be not difficult and it was fun making it. I have made my first one ever and using it. 🙂

I probably get some info on where to buy materials and make some rosaries on my spare time. 🙂

yes:thumbsup:
Thanks be to God, as there is a Perpetual Adoration chapel close to one of my workplaces (I am a contract bookkeeper) and I am able to go for an hour at lunch time on Thur and Fri.
I think Jesus arranges it.
Back in Christmas 2006, I said to myself that for Jesus’s birthday, I will give Him a present by spend time with Him in Adoration.
At first, I was going once a week on Sat.
Now I am able to go 3 times a week.

The more I see Him, the more I love Him.

I believe so. I have the same similar situation. When I was asked to applied for another position at my workplace. I denied it, but then I prayed God if He wanted me to have this job. The people at my workplace kept insisting that I should apply for it. Well, I thought it was a sign from God and I asked Him not to let me be so busy and lost the time that I had with Him if I got this new job. He grants me the time to go to daily mass now. 🙂 This is the best job I have ever had.

This is quite an inspiration for me - I attributed my depression and anxiety to the tremendous change in my life which happened last September (moving from Europe to Canada, starting grad school at a huge university without friends or relations anywhere in North America). Now I am starting to think it was God’s will to send me away from my comfort zone, to teach me to rely on him in my loneliness. And, as a student without family or social obligations, I have the time to pray. To pray the rosary, the Hours, or to read Scripture. And I still complain about my isolation. And I still turn to other forms of entertainment when I am extremely anxious or stressed. Why? WHy am I not happy to do what God is calling me to do?

And it does indeed help you sleep…
I’m not the only one that noticed this. I started saying the Rosary daily about a month ago, usually in the evening with my wife, when she has time. I find I fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly now. I attribute it to a “purer soul”!

I totally agree with you.

We should never be too busy to talk to our loved one.
Our Lord is definitely on the top of our loved one list.
Therefore, we ought to pray.
Prayer is the love talk to our Lord.
And I find Rosary is the most powerful prayer.
Praying Rosary is not simply repeating the same verses again and again.
If we put our hearts into it, we will find it so meaningful, so powerful, that the Rosary includes all phases of our faith and covers all areas of the prayer.

I had the similar experience before. When I first finish my college, I had problem with getting a job. It was hard for me to sleep at night. I kept thinking and worrying about my future. Until I prayed more and tried to trust in the Lord, get a temporary job (labor job), I had peace and could fall asleep easily. 🙂 However, back then, I was only praying 10 Hail Mary’s. I took that advice from my mom - she said she did the rest of the rosary for me and with me. 🙂

yes, the rosary is so powerful - it is a very special gift from Heaven. 🙂

I have had chronic insomnia my whole life. Not only do I have a terrible time falling asleep, but I can’t stay alseep for the life of me.

While in the process of converting, I started saying the Rosary at night, while laying down trying to go to sleep. To my initial shame, I found that NOTHING helps me fall asleep like the Rosary. 😊 But then it occurred to me to view it in another way: I still wake up constantly during the night, and now I simply pick up the Rosary where I left off (as best I can remember), and recite it until I fall asleep again. It’s like God has offered me this chance to experience reprieve from my insomnia while offering this devotion to His glory.

Now, I do attend public recitation of the Rosary once a week, so it’s not like I always do it this way, and some nights I simply can’t fall asleep until I’m done, but I never sleep so well (for me) as when I say my Rosary.

Cari, the same thing happens to me. If I have a sleepless night, there’s nothing like the rosary to make me groggy. I don’t think it’s because I’m “bored,” but I do think that the repetion quiests my brain.

I pray the rosary when I am walking, (speed walking), I have a one decade rosary ring. My walk is not done till I go around 5 times of the ring. I feel it protects me as I walk through my neighborhood.
