If you are going to post subjects like this Blackstone you should back it up with some references.

This is like me saying your mother is a junkie, without having anything to prove it or any reason other than to insult you or start a fight.

If you’d like to know what The Catholic Church really believes and teaches, just ask.
…and he could care less about knowing what the Church truly believes. 👍

from reading all the posts that blackstone has posted on this message board it is very obvious that he/she is only here posting to blast Catholics, not to learn about the Catholic faith or try to have an understanding of what it is to be Catholic.
I have no problem with other denominations posting, most are just wonderful people who only wish to learn more about what we believe so that they can understand us better and we them but blackstone is not that, he/she only has the idea that they are coming to convert and sorry blackstone, that is not happening at this message board 😃
If you really want to learn about the Catholic faith then stick around and you just might but if your just going to leave some snotty posts proclaiming how the “baptist church is Gods true church” just don’t even bother, it only serves as annoyance to us who would much rather have “REAL” “Peaceful” discussions and not just “one sided” statements.
Peace 👍

what most Catholics will not admit to is that there have been reformers or protestants from the early centuries of the church. The early reformers were not upset about doctrines or theology but that the church was becoming to powerful and wealthy. This was leading to corruption in the church hierarchy. Popes were begaining to think that not only did they have authorty over the church but that they also had authorty over secular goverments as well. When a king or emperor would not do as the Pope told them they were the threatened with excommunication. The church used this power the have reformers and protestants killed or jailed

Ah yes, the Whig interpretation of history, colored by the Black Legend with a touch of Foxe’s Book of Martyrs thrown in for good measure. Sorry, I’m left unimpressed and still resolved to be a Catholic (I am a convert to the Catholic Church from the Assemblies of God, btw).

If you don’t trust Catholic sources for the history of the Church, and its true influence on Western governments and culture I suggest you read non-biased sources. Many secular historians these days recognize that the Black Legend and Whig history, etc. as nothing but bunk. So, do you want to know the truth or would you rather just go on bashing the Catholic Church because it makes you feel secure in your particular sect?

Hi Blackstone,

I wonder how the Baptist Church - which came hundreds & hundreds of years after the one true Universal Church that Jesus Himself founded fits into the scheme of things… in your opinion?

From… not so wise & not so old
😉 CM
The same way that the Catholic Church fits into things after thousands of years of the Jewish Church. In fact, the Jewish Church continues to this very day. It’s more ancient than the Catholic Church and has even more traditions associated with it. One wonders that since the Catholic Church considers scripture and tradition as “fonts of revelation,” why it does not continue to keep the Jewish sabbatarian and Mosaic traditions.

Ah yes, we are selective about the traditions we will keep. We call them “redundant,” and “old fashioned,” or worse, “fulfilled in Christ.” Yet, we keep the priesthood and continue to sacrifice an unblemished first born male lamb on our altars.

In short, this sort of Catholic apologetic argumentation against non-Catholic Christians is laughable.

Tibbar, you know, for a convert you really don’t seem to know to much about the Faith…

:rotfl: :rotfl: You’re kidding, right? This has got to be a joke. You should have watched EWTN the other night. There was a former Baptist Minister on “The Journe Home”

You’re not being specific as to exactly what false doctrines the Church teaches. Come on, be specific.

Gee, you must be right. If he knew of any false doctrines that the CC teaches, he would certainly post them here.

Well let me see-------Born again by baptism==False
the real presence==False
Mary as Mediatrix==False
Mary is sinless==Ireneaus, Tertillian, Origen, Hilary of Poiters, Marius Victorinus, Ambrosiaster, Basil the Great and Chrysostom all said that Mary was not sinless.

Awww i see tibar has poped in to put his two cents in. tibar the man who claims to be catholic yet knows very little of it (if anything). tibar who converted to catholoism yet doesn’t seem to like a thing about it. tibar the man who says he was disillusioned with his old church but defends everything about it. tibar the liar, is what i’ll call you from now on. Why lie tibar? Did you think you wouldn’t be allowed to join this forum if you weren’t Catholic? Or did you think that saying (or lying about ) being Catholic would give you some credibilty? Is the faith and strength your denomination given you so weak that you are too embrassed to claim membership of your sect? is it so weak that you know to argue from the point of veiw from your sect would be totaly pointless? More importantly why should we pay any attention to someone who is a liar, how would we know when you spoke the truth? Be a man tibar and tell the truth about your real denomination. Based on your current arguments you would still be proved wrong, it’s just that we’ll give you more credit and respect.
