…what is basically a potato tortilla (lefse) is considered a delicacy. My guess is due to its total lack of flavor.

I can understand some folks not liking lutefisk. Gelatinous fish may not be appealing to everyone. But how can you not like lefse? With butter, sugar and cinnamon it is a great desert. It might even beat rice pudding which some people can make a little too exotic with raisins or other fancy fruit in it.

That’s really funny!

The accent kind of reminds me of the Pennsylvania German accent of the older people in my area of southeastern PA. Lutheranism in the American colonies started out here, and Lutheran churches are still much more common than Episcopalian or Baptist churches in this area. Thankfully we don’t have lutefisk, but blood sausage and the indescribable scrapple are still around. One local restaurant serves a hamburger called “The Luther” on a glazed donut.

The area I live in is about half catholic and half lutheran, but I don’t think there are many Scandinavians in Nebraska, so its much more German, so the food isn’t that much different. I do know they love their jello though.
