Why I don’t trust the catholic faith is if it was really the true faith you could be able to convince it is and it is actually your duty to convince it is not close the door on those who are seeking. Yes it is too late to enter the ark when it pours but why would people enter if they can not know it is true. But you seem to acknowledge you have said all that you can that it is just a tradition that you have to accept. It is the same reason I left the orthodox faith one can not prove it is definitely true as it seemed God wanted to offer salvation to all

With grace one can remain free from serious sin and this is received through the sacraments of the Church.

Catechism of the Catholic Church
779 The Church is both visible and spiritual, a hierarchical society and the Mystical Body of Christ. She is one, yet formed of two components, human and divine. That is her mystery, which only faith can accept.

Catholic Answer Forums isn’t “the catholic faith.” You seem to be saying that the end of these forums is somehow closing the doors on people seeking the faith. It’s not.

If you would like responses, could you clarify what you are talking about?

For example, are you expressing dissatisfaction with the fact that one small website on the internet is closing (CAF)? Or do you have a different concern?

If you’re only talking about the fact that CAF is closing, don’t worry about that. Catholic.com will continue to exist (and you can search up the answers to an enormous number of questions there); the Catholic Answers apostolate will still accept phone calls where your questions can be answered; and of course the catechism will continue to exist, as well as local priests you can talk to, and RCIA is available. And there are other websites (and I’m sure more will be created in future). And there are podcasts, YouTube channels… basically, there are Catholics and apologists all over the place. Teachers continue to teach. 🙂

Hi @truthlovingorthodox

I am not sure if you are referring to the closing of the forum, but if you are, many Catholics are upset about this also.
This forum is not run by the Catholic Church itself but is run by a Catholic media company.
Other answerers may be able to better elaborate exactly who.
A user on CAF, @Tis_Bearself has opened another forum - perhaps you could ask her if you join it?

Ok thanks for letting me know it is still possible to seek the truth though I suppose the forums could give others chances to ask questions to seek answers. What is some advice you would give to make sure one can find the truth. Also the truth should be able to be found by even someone nearing death if they are given time to repent to give them a chance to repent. I didn’t see the above 2 replies Thankyou for giving such an informative and helpful reply

Pray always, and seek God with your whole heart, mind, and soul.

Getting to know God isn’t like being taught about multiplication tables. It’s a two-way relationship requiring a lot of our own effort – and, often, time. Pray to be able to hear and recognize God’s voice, and then keep seeking it. Ask Him to speak to you and help you come home to Him, wherever He is.

God always takes the first steps (it’s His grace on your heart that enables you to seek Him in the first place), but we do need to respond to that grace and “Come, follow” him.

Friend, here’s what I think you should do, as it seems you are Orthodox. Pray for the reunion of our Churches. God bless.

Thankyou but I only want the union if I am sure it is the truth

Jesus says He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. The goal of life is to get closer to Jesus so as to know, love, and serve God. Prayer, Bible reading and meditation, keeping the commandments and the precepts of the Church, receiving the sacraments frequently, fasting and penance, the Rosary–these are all the ways Catholics grow daily closer to Jesus. What of these are you doing daily?

I can try to do all that but it seems one is not allowed to take the Eucharist unless one believes already unless you allow people who submit to the church to take it even if one does not yet have proof of the church

Who closed the door on the seekers now?

(And no, it’s not our job to convince. Only to inform.)

Inform means try to convince but it is up to us to believe it

Thankyou I hope to take that opportunity but I hope I am listened to and the aim is not to just destroy my beliefs but convince because they may be satisfied with just trying to destroying faith of person while not trying more to convince one is definitely true but I don’t think faith can be certainly destroyed because even if it looks attacked there could always be room to trust in God

Could you explain what the door is, how it is being closed, who is closing it, and how it might weaken faith? A few of us are not sure what you are talking about.

I mean people could choose not to open their ears and give time to seekers to hear them and if I go to a mass I think many priests could just be interested in encouraging those who say they have faith without trying to preach the faith to others and be open to others afterwards so going to mass will be useless some might not even be interested in teaching even the faith
