Can we imagine with our children that we ourselves were babies in someone else’s arms? Before everyone looked as they do, we were babies and someone never held us saying “this is what this baby will do!” Such as, “this baby will drive someday” but we may say “this baby will be baptized soon!”

And before that, the plan for us was seen in advance from above!

I dunno.

When I had my first kid I thought “Thank GOD I probably won’t have to teach you how to drive.”

As news of driverless cars and laws passed were beginning to get traction.

Easily, because of these letters:

January 12th, 19xx
“Patricia pleased her Daddy by not only cooing at him but smiling for him as well, his morning…The poor scrap didn’t get fed until 7 this morning so she yelled to awaken us. Apparently the alarm went off and Xxxxx, half asleep, forgot to awaken me.”

February 19, 19xx:
“Patricia is now 12 pounds, not bad eh? She is gaining at a reasonable 6-7 oz a week…She is kicking, laughing and making the usual baby gurgles. Daddy is thrilled at the way she ‘talks’ to him and follows him with her eyes.

Xxxxx has been sending me off to bed at 9 each night and awakens me with first, supper, and then Patricia follows for her night feed. He has done everything he possibly can to make moving in as easy as he can for me.

I have finished the curtains at last, the nicest are in the kitchen, I’m enclosing a bit of the stuff for you to see. The general effect is very nice."

Everyone but a butcher calls; the greengrocer delivers the freshest and cheapest vegetables I’ve seen in this city.
No more now, Mum dear, I just wanted you to know I’ve been thinking of you. Xxxxx asked me to send his love with mine, and a kiss from the kiddies,
your loving daughter Xxxxxx”

Wasn’t my Dad a sweetie, giving my Mum so much support. So was my Mum, with her appreciation of my Dad’s efforts.
The love in those letters makes it easy to see myself as a little baby
