Young boy in crisis

Please pray for Ricky, who is 8 years old. His mother is mentally unstable and is intentionally raising her children to be violent and disrespectful to authority. (What she calls “hardcore”.) His older sister was taken away by her father’s family, but Ricky’s father isn’t in the picture. His younger brother has been institutionalized after he attempted to assault two of his teachers and another student. He’s going to be gone for at least a few months. Since all this has happened, Ricky doesn’t have any support other than his mother who is nothing but poison for him. His behavior is getting more and more out of contol and I suspect he is trying to get in trouble the way his brother did so that he will be taken away. I’m not even sure what to ask God for in this situation, but please pray that Ricky will get the appropriate help.

This is so sad. Experiences at this age often carry life long difficulties. Many of my students went through the same thing. I was so grateful to have a graduate from our program when I was in OCI. He is now married with kids and is doing well. I talked with him about it on a retreat this weekend.

Others are not so lucky. I pray that someone comes to Ricky’s rescue. Even now at 8, he will have a rough road to recovery. There is always hope, but the odds become more heavy against him with each passing day.
