Young Earth or not?

As a young Catholic in the 1950s I was taught that the Genesis account of Creation was correct, that Adam & Eve were everyones ancestors and that the chronology of the bible was correct i.e. the earth is only 6000 - 10000 years old. Is this still the accepted view of the Catholic Church?
