Please pray for my Grandson, A. who seems to have some fairly serious behavior problems and in need of prayer. He is only 7 but is uncontrollable and is getting stronger and more difficult to manage. (His dad travels more than half the time every month) My daughter and I (Grandma) are not that strong physically and he often times is so out of control that one if not both of us have not been kicked, hit and it is getting very physical and almost scary the out of control behavior he displays. We both love him so much but are at a loss as to how to handle is outbursts/melt-downs. Please pray for us and for her husband to be able to be around more. Thank you.

P.S. Yes, he is seeing a psycologist and is trying a new medication…which seems to keep him awake at night. They’ve already tried 2 medications…

God our Father in Heaven, by Your Grace, please heal
Miz’s grandson from his severe behavior problems.
Lead Miz and her daughter to a doctor that will be
able to control his symptoms. Help his father so his
able to spend more time at home where he is so
greatly missed and badly needed.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.
Amen

Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is
in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive
us our trespasses. As we forgive those who trespass
against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver
us from evil.
Amen

Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art
thou amongst women, and Blessed is the Fruit of thy
womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us
sinners, now and at the hour of our deaths.
Amen

It might even be a question of the timing of when to take the medication. Can he go back and mention the time this is being taken, that it’s adversely affecting his sleep. Sometimes, switching a time around can help in some cases.

Persistence with the psychiatrist is key, going back until it’s right, tweaking the dosage, times, etc., which only the psychiatrist can do.

Talk to the psychiatrist and psychologist about not being able to control him. Ask how to proceed.

As clearwater suggested, it might be best to give him his medication earlier in the day. Is it ADHD or something else? Whatever the case may be, it may be a good idea when he starts a new medication to start at a very low dosage, see how he does and bring the dosage up very gradually. Melatonin, absolutely natural, non addictive may help him fall asleep if that is a problem.

Praying for the healing of your grandson. That he can get the healing he needs, and for the right people to assist him.

Amen. Sorry to hear you are struggling with this; as others said keep trying with the psychologist and meds and have faith that this can be worked out.

Mary.

Praying for your grandson to be properly diagnosed and treated and for him to be healed.

Memorare

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Also possible source of help can be diet. Chemicals in food can sometimes cause strong reactions in children. Sometimes behavior problems are caused by an allergy that no one realizes. Sometimes eating organic, no sugar, and no processed foods can allow lower dosages of medicine.

Grandma & Mom learn restraining techniques, so child doesn’t hurt himself or others when necessary. Grandmom, Mom & Dad learn how to provide very structured environment with consistant rewards for correct behavior(much more that for normal children). Everyone working together.

I have seen experienced special educators in the public schools drastically change the behavior of their students with love, consistency, and when needed toughness.

If he is in special education class at school, learn from the teacher and follow the same behavior program at home. The teacher will be delighted you want to do this.

Sound like training the Mom and Grandma to suit the child.A pill will never teach a child anything, it only makes them less of a nusense. Maybe a good firm spanking when he starts to get naughty might work wonders. A seven year old has to LEARN self control. Their not born with it. Should have been learning that all along. God Bless, Memaw

Find another psychologist. It sounds like a type of bipolar disorder. He can be given age-appropriate chores. Attend parenting classes to better learn to cope and how to apply consequences for bad behavior, privileges for good behavior. It takes patience and consistency. The right meds (minimal) given at the same time each day. Praying for your grandson and for all of you for the strength and courage to shape this little guy who will be in control his behavior. God bless.

Wow  Remembering your grandson, daughter, son-in-law and you in my daily prayers. God bless!

Prayer of St. Dymphna

Lord, our God, you graciously chose St. Dymphna as patroness of those afflicted with mental, emotional, and nervous disorders. She is thus an inspiration and a symbol of charity to the thousands who ask her intercession.

Please grant, Lord, through the prayers of this pure youthful martyr, relief and consolation to all suffering such trials, and especially MLZ’s grandson, A, who has serious behavioral problems.

We beg you, Lord, to hear the prayers of St. Dymphna on his behalf. Grant the boy and his family patience in their sufferings and resignation to your divine will.

Please fill them with hope, and grant them the relief and cure they so desire.
We ask this through Christ our Lord who suffered agony in the garden. Amen.

Litany to St. Dymphna

Lord have mercy on us.
Christ have mercy on us.
Lord have mercy on us.
Christ hear us.
Christ graciously hear us.
God the Father of Heaven, have mercy on us.
God the Son, Redeemer of the World, have mercy on us.
God the Holy Ghost, have mercy on us.
Holy Trinity, One God, have mercy on us.
Holy Mary, Virgin Mother of God, pray for us.
Health of the sick, pray for us.
Comforter of the Afflicted, pray for us.
Our Lady, Help of Christians, pray for us.
St. Dymphna, Virgin and Martyr, pray for us.

St. Dymphna, daughter of royal parents, child of great beauty of soul and body, docile to the lessons of your pious mother, obedient to your saintly confessor, who abandoned the court of your father to escape the danger of impurity, who chose a life of poverty on earth so that you might lay up treasures in Heaven, who sought consolation at Holy Mass, Communion and prayer, ardent lover of the Divine Bridegroom, devoted to the Mother of God, beheaded by your own father, martyr of holy purity, brilliant example of Christian youth, renowned for many miracles, glory of Ireland and Belgium, full of compassion for those in need, protectress against all nervous and mental disorders, and Spiritual afflictions, consoler of the afflicted, friend of the helpless, comforter of the despondent, light of those in mental and spiritual darkness, patroness of those who suffer with nervous and mental diseases, and Spiritual afflictions, pray for us.

That we may love the Lord our God with all our hearts and above all things, that we may hate sin and avoid all occasion of sin, that we may carefully preserve the virtue of purity to our state, that we may receive the sacraments frequently, that we may obtain the spirit of prayer that we may be humble and obedient resigning ourselves to God’s holy will, that we may learn to have confidence in God during our afflictions, that we may obtain the grace of final perseverance, in moments of temptation, in times of sickness, disease, war, and persecution, in our last illness, and at the hour of our death.

Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world, spare us O Lord
Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world, graciously hear us O Lord.
Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.

Pray for us Saint Dymphna, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ

Let us Pray:

O God, since you gave St. Dymphna to your Church as a model of all virtues, especially holy purity, and willed that she should seal her faith with her innocent blood and perform numerous miracles, grant that we who honor her as patroness of those afflicted with mental illness, emotional problems, and Spiritual afflictions, may continue to enjoy her powerful intercession and protection and attain eternal life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Most Holy and Gracious Father, watch with us over your child A., and grant that he may be restored to that perfect health which it is yours alone to give; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

:signofcross:

Praying for you, your daughter and for the good health of your grandson. Also praying that his dad may be around more often.

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!
