I am an 18 year old , and i am in hope to get married one day and have children. I don’t understand why i am having weird gay thoughts lately, nothing sexual. but i am feeling very weird about it and would like it to stop. I don’t want this to affect me, how do i stop these thoughts? i never had these before its very annoying and worrying.

Our minds are so overloaded with garbage that we see on tv and hear about that it is hard to erase the image that it makes in our mind. Be careful what you allow your eyes to see.
Are you trying to develop a good prayer life? I was once told that as God pours grace into your soul the muck flows out. If you imagine your soul to be a cup and the cup has murky water …as we all do, and clean water is poured into it, the murky water flows out.
Also, when I first became a mother I would have thoughts of dropping my baby and it would just shock my insides like crazy to have it because I had no desire to drop or harm my baby. Additionally I have had thoughts come out of nowhere that were not wholesome in nature and as before the thoughts were not something I desired.
Maybe you are just very aware that you have the power to choose evil , not that you want to. You have free will. Focus on the fact that you do not chose evil. Focus on your will choosing what God wants for you. The devil could just be trying to wear you down and keep your focus off of something that God wants you to focus on.

Hi, you could just be going through a stage, as the chemicals in one’s brain still fire a bit wildly for some people in the late teens. I’d suggest that you do what you can to distract yourself when you can, but try to stay calm about it, as the more stressed we get the more things can bother us.

From what you say you have normal desires to get married and have a family.

If your thoughts are too weird and you feel out of control, I guess you might need to make sure nothing’s actually wrong in your health.

The main thing is to try not to take these thoughts too seriously so that they gradually leave you.

I ask the Holy Spirit to be with you and to help you.

Take care of yourself…Trishie

thank you for your responses. i don’t mean to be overdramatic, but I am worried about these weird thoughts overcoming what i really want in life. I don’t want evil to be playing with my mind, because i’ve overcome many obstacles and i want to stay a good person following catholic teaching in life. thank you once again.

If the devil is fighting against you, then at least you know whose side you’re on.

And if he ain’t…
