I have made it clear that I do not “jump into the pit of Anti Mormon garbage” answering questions because it does no good. Those of you wishing the church could blown off the face of the earth never to exist again, your dislike or hatred or personal issues you have are sad. My loyalty will remain forever.

When attempts have made to answer some questions, the replies given were not acceptable, confirming farther to me that your hatred is life long goal as long as my church is around.

It is not going anywhere despite it being a thorn in the side of Catholicism’ continued profession that it “is the true church of Christ”, the foundation has never come apart and all Mormons need to come Catholicism.

I will never change my view, never never, on Catholicism. I recognize what it is and how my church will continue to move forward the purposes of God.

Why the post?

When is my church going to be respected just as others, particularly in light of your Holy Father’s efforts to improve relations with other faiths.

Why are we not respected instead receiving bigotry because of who we are?

Perhaps if fewer LDS people were bigoted, we might be more tolerant of them.

I do not have a hatred of people that are Mormom. I struggle with their beliefs. When I have asked sincere questions I do not get responses. For example I have heard that Mormons believe they can become Gods and get their own universe. Is this true?

I actually like Mormons. My wife and kids are Mormons. Catholics are constantly bombarded by Mormons who claim the LDS Church is the one true church. Mormons go door-to-door trying to convert us. When Mormons post here, they are essentially attempting to do the same thing.

I would be happy if there were never a thread on Mormonism, but this forum is one in which other religions are discussed. It doesn’t help when Mormons come here and deny well established teachings of the LDS Church such as God once having been a man. Or perhaps they come here and lie a little bit about polygamy in order to gain a public relations point by saying things like polygamy was only an attempt to help take care of widows and orphans.

I was recently at BYU. The kids there are wonderful. I wish Catholic kids took our Catholic religion as seriously as the Mormon youth I met at BYU. I wish Catholic kids dedicated two years of their lives to helping both Catholics and non-Catholics understand the Catholic religion. But I’m not going to give Mormonism a pass when it’s not stating the facts about itself. I’m certainly unwilling to allow the LDS to present a fraudulent history of the Americas as a history of the Native Americans. Should we just sit back and nod our heads regarding how wonderful Mormonism is or should we defend our faith by pointing out the flaws of Mormonism? What would you do if you were a believer in Catholicism?

We believe that, if we repent, keep our covenants, and endure to the end, will receive exaltation, further meaning we become as God is, perfect — a goal most of mortality are short of. Our goal in life is working toward perfection, as Jesus was perfect. (That is the only response I give regarding all this “Gods” talk.

Universes is wrong.

Respecting you and accepting your beliefs are two different things. I hope that I and other posters try always to be respectful of you and your religion. But your thread title is “your contention that the LDS Church is False…”. This is a Catholic forum. There is no need to debate for us to believe that the LDS Church is false. To Catholics and most other Christians it is whether you believe it to be or not. It just is.

The only hatred I see, in general, with regard to Mormonism on these forums comes from Mormons themselves. Your posts attacking and accusing Catholics on this board is yet another example.

A Mormon whines about demanding “respect”. Yet he makes posts like these which demonstrates he does not respect non-Mormons.

The cult of Mormonism has contradictory and changing doctrines. It does not have stable teachings and many of the teachings are in direct conflict with historical facts and archaeological evidence. To hold to Mormon beliefs requires that one must suspend logic and reason, and apparently from this post, civility.

I have to wonder who you are trying to convince…us, or yourself.

Perry, the only answer to your question I have seen our Mormon friends give is to refer us to the Mormon Scriptures.

I looked there, and found that yes, they do say men will become gods:
Code:
Bolding mine.
D&C 132
19 And again, verily I say unto you, if a man… (instructions snipped)… 20 Then shall they be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from everlasting to everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto them. Then shall they be gods, because they have call power, and the angels are subject unto them.

D&C 76
58 Wherefore, as it is written, they are agods, even the bsons of cGod
(end quote)

I have looked for references about worlds. So far, I have come up with some references to going to “eternal worlds” (as opposed to the one we now occupy) but haven’t found anything definitive that says each little new god will inherit one. But I’m not done searching.

So there you are. A straight answer, but not from a Mormon.

Most of the time, zerinus is willing to discuss the LDS faith. He may get testy or short, but he will discuss. He has been very helpful to me more than once. I do not agree with his theology, but I respect him none the less.

Many posters on here are simply frustraited. WE do not ask to be interrupted at home by a couple of well-intentioned but zelous kids telling us that our faith is wrong. I go home to be at home, away from people that are not family. We get frustraited because we are told things by people that the Mormons beleive and we get the run-around. Or we are told that we cannot appriciate the nuances. Or that we have no idea what in the hell we are talking about and we are persicuting them. Or whatever.

Mormons want to be allowed to practice their faith. This has not always been allowed through the years. That is not acceptable. However, if they want freedom to practice, we should be able to ask about issues that we see without automatically being called attackers.

They would use either a six sided die and add 4 to the roll, or a four sided and add six. Either way, a saving throw might be needed to see if the person’s sense of self might counter the overall effect (the possibilty of doubt or a lack of true faith in the caster).

I enjoyed BG and IWD.

I pity the missionaries. They go where they are not invited to tell people that they are damned because they hold to historic fact and sound theology

You don’t need to pity the missionaries; the missionaried pity you!

My biggest problem with the Mormons that post on this forum is that when you give responses to there their claims and point out the inconstancy of Mormon teaching with what is given In the Bible has Tradition of both the Catholic Church and From the Jewish Faith they just ignore you. Or they respond to just one line of your post that really had very little to do with the point of your post.

I’ll never understand why you guys think discussing Mormon doctrine, using Mormon sources, like the Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants and Pearl of Great Price, from the LDS website is anti-Mormon activity. What more could you ask than people refer to YOUR canon when they discuss YOUR faith? I think what really has you upset is that your doctrine says what it says, and by going to the source material we don’t give you the opportunity to do the “milk-before-meat” thing. You, and a lot of others, seem to think that anybody who doesn’t agree with Mormon doctrine is an overt “anti” and hates Mormons. That not the case dude, most of us couldn’t care less about Mormonism. We just don’t agree with Mormon doctrine and it is YOU who have come to a Catholic website to proselytize; it is YOU who come to our homes, uninvited and unannounced, to demean our faith and warn us that we cannot ever be with God unless we accept Joseph Smith, convert to Mormonism and do what you tell us to do. If you’re going to engage in that sort of activity, then you can hardly expect to go unchallenged. If you don’t like that, well, sorry; that’s just the way it is. Hang out on a Mormon board and everybody will agree with you.

Are you really so arrogant that you can make a statement like THAT without seeing the blatant hypocrisy???
I will never change my view, never never, on Catholicism. I recognize what it is…
Not that anybody really cares, but statements like this don’t help your case.

Sorry dude, but we’re lactose intolerant around here. Here’s the whole deal from the LDS website: lds.org/library/display/0,4945,11-1-13-59,00.html
