Your Experiences with the RSV-2CE

So, it has been about 2 and a half years since Ignatius Press published the RSV-2CE. It was initially published in three editions: Leather, hardback, and paperback. They also published a portable New Testament and Psalms in leather and paperback. So, for those of you who use the RSV-2CE regularly, what has been your experiences using it? Do you like the changes that were made to the translation besides the elimination of the “thees and thous”? How about the product itself, like its binding, font size, page layout, etc…

They should have kept the thees and thous along with the word hath. The eth, ith, nst was good to get rid. Still not fond of the translation to use it on a regular basis

I like it, from the new binding which is a great improvemnt over the older Ignatius RSV-CE, the printing and quality of the paper is superior. I am not a fan of the ‘thees and thous’ so I was very happy with eliminating them. They are still there in the RSV-CE for people who prefer them. I also have the RSV-2CE lectionary, which I use as a big missal for my daily readings. I have had my copy of the RSV-2CE since May 2006 and I use it as my main translation and it has held up well. I am just waiting for Ignatius to come out with a one volume RSV-2CE Study Bible including the notes from their current series of booklets written by Scott Hahn.

I love it! No problems with the binding or pages being too thin or ripping. I carry my bible along with me in my purse everyday everywhere I go. I have the leather edition. I have highlighted in it a lot and it doesn’t bleed through the other pages. I wish they would come out with a one volume study bible in this version.

I love mine…I will always, I think, prefer the Douay-Rheims to any other, but the RSV-CE is the best modern translation that I have ever read.
And, as others have said, this is a beautiful (& beautifully made) Bible. The paper is terrific…very strong, & no “see-thru”. Also, it is a nice ivory white that I find is very easy on my ( aging) eyes.
