Your favorite and/or greatest film actor and actress

Pick one film actor and one film actress whom you admire the most and/or whom you believe is the greatest of all time. A daunting task. For myself, I’ll have to think about it.
 
For me it’s more of a sentimental favorite.

I like Judy Garland and the movie “Meet Me in St. Louis”.

I 'll have to think about favorite actor. I can’t think of anyone off the top of my head.
 
I’ll leave “the greatest” to someone else and stick with “favorites.”

Uh. Hard to choose. Carole Lombard and Barbara Stanwyck (don’t make me choose!). Actors: Jimmy Stewart? Herbert Marshall? Peter Cushing?

So hard! 👍
 
I think my favorite actress is Sophia Loren.

The first film I remember seeing with her was “Sunflower” on television when I was maybe 6.

I’ve seen many but not all of her films, I prefer her Italian films to her American ones.

I also think that Marcello Mastroanni and Sophia Loren were one of the best on screen couples. They had such chemistry.

I also confess that as a young girl, I had a crush on her son,(my mom would purchase the Italian magazine, “Oggi” and they were featured frequently).

I thought it would be great if I married one of her sons, and my sister marry the other son. But I’m no longer 12. 😊

Ingrid Bergman and Audrey Hepburn. Clark Gable and Charleston Heston They don’t make 'em like that anymore. I wish I could spell!😛
 
To pick one(s) from among the many favorites:

Actor: Spencer Tracy
might as well pair him with Actress: Katherine Hepburn

(Others whom I will always stop and watch if I catch sight of them while flipping through the channels: Denzel Washington, Kevin Costner, Humphey Bogart, Cary Grant, Gene Kelly, Sandra Bullock, Rosalind Russell, Lauren Bacall, undoubtedly others)

This is a hard choice, but I think that Anthony Hopkins is at the top of the field. He is enormously talented and a true craftsman.

I also nominate Meryl Streep. Tremendous talent and skill.
 
Bette Davis for movies such as Now Voyager and Jezebelle.

Cary Grant for amazing range and humor in movies like Philadelphia Story.

As for Modern talent - Julia Roberts and George Clooney
 
Today I will say Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn.

Tomorrow it might be someone totally different!

I also saw Sunflower as a child. I really liked the theme song.

Sophia Loren looks a lot like my mom or is it the other way around?
 
Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront is second to none.

And for actresses: I guess I’ve always liked Margaret Dumont of the Marx Brothers’ films 😛

Not a big Audrey fan like my sister and my daughter, but Gregory Peck… 👍
 
Personal favorites:

Actor - Harrison Ford (so many great roles … Han Solo, Indiana Jones, Dr. Richard Kimble, Jack Ryan … I could go on but I forget the names of some of his other characters)

Actress - Sigourney Weaver - she can save me from scary aliens anytime. 😃 She also had a great role in Galaxy Quest.

As far as who I think is the greatest, that’s a harder question. I’ll have to mull it over.
 
Sir Lawrence Olivier—my gosh, he was a chameleon–changing for every role.

Female, hmmmm, so many favorites, hard to pick one. Not one totally outstanding, as in the actor category.

Oh my word! Olivier and his former wife, Vivien Leigh. Absolutely! I cannot think of two actors who skill I admire better. Maybe Sir Alec Guinness? 👍

Whenever I happen to turn on The Lion in Winter, I always say to myself I’ll just watch a little of it this time but wind up seeing the whole movie again.
