And one more from Pascal:

If God had wished to overcome the obstinacy of the most hardened he could have done so by revealing himself to them so plainly that they could not doubt the truth of his essence, as he will appear on the last day with such thunder and lightening and such convulsions of nature that the dead will rise up and the blindest will see him.

This is not the way he wished to appear when he came in mildness, because so many men had shown themselves unworthy of his clemency, that he wished to deprive them of the good they did not desire. It was therefore not right that he should appear in a manner manifestly divine and absolutely capable of convincing all men, but neither was it right that his coming should be so hidden that he could not be recognized by those who sincerely sought him. He wished to make himself perfectly recognizable to them.

Thus wishing to appear openly to those who seek him with all their heart and hidden from those who shun him with all their heart he has qualified our knowledge of him by giving signs which can be seen by those who seek him and not by those who do not. ‘There is enough light for those who desire only to see and enough darkness for those of a contrary disposition.”
Pensées 149

The principle of deus absconditus. It still befuddles most atheists.

If you are studying astrophysics you are obligated to read Hugh Ross. go to his web sight Reasons to Believe. He has a story that is one of the most compelling regarding the bible and science. I am currently reading one of his many publications/books “Beyond the Cosmos.” If you know the language of science, you would jump out of your mind when you apply scientific tools you have to find a Creator God and then discover that Person is Jesus Christ. Be ready for a jump shock like you have never had.👍👍

I will look into it, thank you 🙂

“All artists love what they give birth to–parents love their children; poets love their poems; craftsmen love their handiwork. How then could God hate a single thing since God is the artist of everything?” (Thomas Aquinas)

“None of us lives as his own master;
none of us dies as his own master. . .

(Abraham Lincoln)

“The fundamental fact of human awareness is this: I am lfe that wants to live in the midst of other life that wants to live. A thinking man feels compelled to approach all life with the same reverence he has for his own. Thus, all life becomes part of his own experiences. From such a point of view, ‘good’ means to maintain life, to further life, to bring developing life to its highest value. ‘Evil’ means to destroy life, to hurt life, to keep life from developing. This, then is the rational, universal and basic principle of ethics.”

“We have to carry Our Lord in places where He has not walked before; therefore, we must be consumed with one desire - JESUS - and always keep His interests continually in our hearts and minds. This LOVE FOR CHRIST, which is our one aim in life and our joy, will urge us to spend ourselves without ceasing.” (Mother Teresa)

“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”

I LOVE this thread.

*Voltaire (an Atheist Philosopher I believe, but I love this quote) *

This is from Voltaire’s essay “On Atheism.”

“The atheists are for the most part impudent and misguided scholars who reason badly, and who not being able to understand the creation, the origin of evil, and other difficulties, have recourse to the hypothesis of the eternity of things and of inevitability….That was how things went with the Roman Senate which was almost entirely composed of atheists in theory and in practice, that is to say, who believed in neither a Providence nor a future life; this senate was an assembly of philosophers, of sensualists and ambitious men, all very dangerous men, who ruined the republic."
