Laura Croft (Tomb Raider), Ripley (Alien destoyer), Wonder Woman, Xena the Warrior Princess, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Rose Sayer (Katherine Hepburn’s character in The African Queen), Yu Shu Lien (Martial Arts master in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), G.I. Jane, and the list goes on and on. No damsels in distress these!! Who is your favorite fictional “Tough Gal?”

My choice: Mrs. Emma Peel in the TV series The Avengers. Witty, clever “talented amateur” and a model for all that came after.

Mmmmm… Hot Tough Gals – Three of my favorite subjects. 😃
  • Ziva David, NCIS (:tiphat: to the late Director Jenny Shepherd)
  • Olivia Benson, Law & Order, Special Victims Unit
  • Fiona Glenanne, Burn Notice
  • Echo, Dollhouse
  • Mame Dennis Burnside, Auntie Mame (for that matter: Just about any other role of Rosalind Russell)
  • River Tam, Firefly / Serenity
I’d better stop and leave some for someone else. 😛

HEY! I was about to say Mrs. Peal too 😃

No I would go with the Reverend Mother in the movie called Lillies of the Field…SR Bertrille was a cupcake

I would choose the Reverend Mother in the Sound of Music…or the Nuns played by Debra Kerr in the Black Narcissus and Heaven Knows Mr Allison

Angelique on Dark Shadows. I would never want to get on her bad side.

And I agree about Emma Peel. Actually, the great Kathy Gale, played by Honor Blackman, came before Emma, and I actually think she’s tougher! But she didn’t wear black leather “cat suits.”

Grace Jones! especially in the 2nd Conan movie.

And speaking of the Conan movies–I loved the character of Valeria, played by Sandahl Bergman. So tough and tender.

All time fave has to be Sarah Connor in Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Hoo-ah!

Ripley is good. And I LOVED Wonder Woman as a kid.

Catwoman - in just about any of her many tv and filmic representations.

Power Girl of DC comics.
Spiderwoman from Marvel.
Oh… and the Huntress of DC comics.

I was gonna add Ms. Marvel but she messes around… so just those 3 up there.

I’m a comic geek. 😃
