Went with snowboarding, I think because Sage Kotsenburg won the gold.

Love that three sisters are competing in moguls - unbelievable.

Always love ice skating(there would be Olympics without ice skating) and hockey and I am beginning to like the biathlon because of women and shooting.

Anybody just watch that Italian skater ice dance to Ave Maria?

Incredible. :yeah_me:
Which “Ave” – Bach-Gounod, or Schubert?

Girls with guns – what’s not to like? 😃

Figure skating, since that’s what I do! But I like watching other things, too. Especially downhill skiing, snowboarding, luge, curling… Honestly, I’ll watch almost anything. I just like figure skating the best. 😃

I didn’t know you were a figure skater! I am/was? a nordic skier, but I will admit it can be pretty boring to watch. I just like watching the things we never otherwise get to watch.

Schubert. Was an arrangement with choral voices…might have been digital, but it was gorgeous. gave everyone goose bumps.

So watching the coverage this evening, they did men’s downhill, and man that looks terrifying, some of the “jumps” look like sheer drop-offs from the camera angle. Then they told us that the course is 2.7miles long, and the top skiers were finishing at 2:06. That means their average speed is 60mph.

They were interspersing that coverage with women’s slopestyle snowboarding, which I at first said was more boring to watch then the men’s, because they don’t do as impressive tricks. But then a girl fell, and slammed her head backwards hard enough into the snow. Hard enough to break her helmet. (She was able to snowboard down the rest of the hill). But I think I am going to go with my earlier impression, that a large number of winter Olympic sports are plain terrifying.

Kamaduck, please sign this petition: change.org/petitions/international-olympic-committee-make-synchronized-figure-skating-an-olympic-event?utm_source=supporter_message&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=petition_message_notice

Everyone else, please sign it, too! It’s a petition to get synchronized skating into the Olympics. Only a few days have gone by, and there are 8300 signatures from countries all over the world. #whynotsynchro has gotten bigger by the moment. Lots of people are finally speaking up.

There are some nice synchro skating videos on the link, too.

PLEASE SIGN TODAY!

Cool! Skiing sounds like it’d be a lot of fun, too. I’ve tried it once or twice, and I had a lot of fun. Doing it competitively would be awesome. 🙂

Signed it! I’d love to see synchronized skating in the Olympics. 👍

Men’s Ice Hockey and it’s not even close.

The best players on the planet on 12 teams in one tournament? Um… YES, PLEASE!!!

Throw in international bragging rights and some good old fashioned patriotism, I think it makes for a great event.

Thanks!

Would you believe that the WASHINGTON POST actually said that synchronized skating should be in the Olympics! Wow!

Anything live. I refuse to watch their canned evening program. It is not sports. It is reality drama - canned, melodramatic and predictable. You know they will air and foreshadow results and just touch on the stuff less newsworthy.

I’d put Ski Jumping at number 1, but I enjoy just about everything at the Winter Olympics, Downhill Skiiing, Hockey, Luge, etc.

Hands down Skiing.
But Ice skating is more fun to watch and makes me contemplate my soul more.

In my younger days I was an avid skier. I skied with olympians all the time. Petereson RIP
Street. Etc.

I hate the midwest.

I like speed skating, long and short track, all Luge events, Skeleton is just INSANE though…I would be scared stiff riding down in a bobsled, could not imagine having my face 3 inches from the ice going 90 mph!!!

I dont care too much for the snowboarding or other ‘jumping’ type events, seems to me all the runs look the same, all they do is backflips and turns/twists, or combinations of the 2. gets boring after about the 2nd run…time to come up with something new imo.

I also am upset about this news tonight about the US speedskating blaming the skin tight suits they wore as the reason why no one won a medal…LOL Its one thing to be a gracious winner/ looser, but when you stoop as low to blame the suit they are wearing for the loss…that is just wrong (and sad). I seem to remember the old saying “cant blame bad workmanship on the tools” LOL

I am sure that each nation has their share of poor sports that we never see or hear from, but there seems to be an infestation recently with the US athletes. From Shaun White’s decisions and tweets these games, to him deciding he “needs a break from snowboarding for a while” Then one of the US skiers who got a bronze medal cried and talked about how disappointed she was. There are always good stories and examples as well but it does say something when Bode Miller is no longer the biggest jerk on the mountain.🤷

Lots and lots of spoiled brats if you ask me. And it would seem that at least in the interviews I have seen from other countries, lots of amazing young athletes as well. Too bad our recent hero’s of the summer and winter games have been kinda prima donnas.

I’m Looking at you Lochte, Phelps, White, Old moguls lady,

On the plus side, our skaters look promising and seem to be good sports. WIth the exception of one young lady I won’t name yet.😉

I am watching the Men’s Long program now, and yes, it appears the US men have a lot of class and are good sports. Abbott’s skate was beautiful.
