I aboslutely love talking about our favourite Popes!! So, tell us, who is (are) your favourite Pope(s)?

God Bless!

Pope John Paul II definitely tops my list, but I think Pope Benedict XVI has done an awesome job in following JP2. Especially with the scandals and dealing with them and the media coverage. John XXIII is of course a favorite to.

John XXIII because he seems so lovable and he suprised everyone and Peter I because he denied Christ and still went on to become the first Pope. I kind of take from him that no matter how bad your sin is, once you are forgiven it shouldn’t be a block to holiness.

People say all kinds of unkind things about Peter, but I know I would have loved being on his boat 🙂

I wish I’d gotten back to the Church soon enough to incorporate Pope John Paul II’s teachings.

I respect and love Pope Benedict, the Church is blessed to have him at the helm!

Venerable Pope John Paul II
Blessed Pope John XXIII
Pope St. Peter, the First Pope

I was happy and relieved to see Peter on the list. I’ve entrusted my vocation to him. May he constantly intercede for me.

Thanks for the quiz!

ps: And may all our departed Holy Fathers smile upon us from heaven.

no Benedict XVI

but i voted JPII got to love his work on theology of the body.

also Puis XII was great too he was in a very difficult situation in his papacy having to deal with the war and he did a great job with it too

I love all of our Holy Fathers…but Pope Saint Pius X, John Paul II, and Pope Saint Pius V are my top three.😃

I love what Benedict XVI is doing. I think he is the perfect Pope for guiding the Church in an increasingly secular world that is hostile to religion, especially Christianity. I’ve also heard he is working towards bringing back groups that left the church back into communion with Rome.

im really excited to see the fruits of his visit to the UK, many European countries are in deep need of sparks so to speak to Catholicism

Spain is going to get one a big one just look what happened in Australia.

i hope they keep WYD in the Europe area at-least every other one I think they need it more then ever.

Pius IX He fought modernism and liberalism the two things that will destroy the church.

My vote unhesitatingly goes to Pius X, who was the most staunch and manly pope of the last few hundred years. Say what you want about the firmness of Pius IX or the goodly wisdom of Leo XIII, but Pius X really gave an example of manhood to all males. Every time I see a portrait of that hard, stern face, I get shiver down my spine. 🙂 Despite his bust-like appearance, though, he retained a certain soft, kind, and piercing look in his eyes. The reform of Church music in 1903 and the fight against Modernism particularly inspire me.

He did all in his power to shove the atheist agenda aside. 👍

Before I give my choice(s) I’ll do a write-in vote for Paul VI due to Humanae Vitae. As for the “official” votes;

St. Pope Pius X: Fought against modernism and held firm. Plus, he was a Secular Franciscan!

Venerable Pope John John Paul II: I’m 28 years old, so I guess you could say he was “my” Pope. Love everything that he did and what he stood for.

And finally, you can’t have this conversation without:

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

He’s got the keys for a reason.

You’ve got a good list there!

Let’s see…my favorites are (in no particular order) :

St. Peter the first Pope. You might say he’s kind of ‘lovable’ because he had a habit of ‘sticking his foot into his mouth’ at the wrong time. And you have to feel sorry for him when he denied Our Lord (THREE TIMES!), but was forgiven three times by Him when He entrusted His Church to him.

St. Pius X. He fought against Modernism. And he lowered the age for First Communion.

Venerable Pius XII. I was born four years before he died, so I don’t remember much about except what I’ve read in books. He was the right Holy Father for the World War II years. He showed great courage in hiding Jewish refugees in convents and monasteries in Italy.

Venerable John Paul II. He was the Holy Father for exactly half my life. I saw him three times in Rome, and once when he was a Cardinal (a seminary classmate of his was a priest in my hometown). I loved him the moment he was elected! He loved Our Lady-she saved his life when he was shot in 1981.

Blessed John XXIII. I was eight years old when he died, so I have some hazy memories of him. He had quite a sense of humor-especially when he poked fun at himself!

And of course, I have to mention our current Papa, Benedict XVI! 😃 I was overjoyed when he was elected to succeed John Paul II! He ‘liberated’ the TLM, he is doing his utmost to help us regain our Catholic identity and to bring back those who have left the Church. He’s a man of deep intellect, a gentle man and a holy one, too…not to mention that he is from Germany, where my late mother came from!

LONG LIVE OUR ‘GERMAN SHEPHERD’! 👍

Pope John Paul II gets my vote every time.
I had the privilege to see the great man twice.
And still he teaches me, still he touches my soul.
God Bless,
Colmcille.🙂

None of the above.

St Peter first and foremost.

Second Pope St Pius the V. Pope St Pius the V because of the Miracle at Le Panto and his Codification of the Findings of the Council of Trent his courageous stance against the Protestants and the Turks and the fact that despite being elected Pope - he continued to live humbly an austere lifestyle according to his rule.
