What kind of traps do you suggest? At this point, I’m up to try anything once as long as it doesn’t involve me “talking” tp it or provoking it. Also, I called and left a message for our priest. He’s not in on Mondays and Tuesdays. I hope he calls soon.

I’m thinking, adhesive spray on the door handles to catch fingerprints, and something in the drawers that falls out if someone’s been in there who shouldn’t be - go to the Spy Store; they have all kinds of ideas for traps for burglars and unwanted guests. 🙂

This would allow you to rule out the presence of a living person - if no fingerprints show up when the door bangs by itself, or if the drawers open themselves without knocking over the item you’ve set up to do that, then you know you’re dealing with a ghost or demon.

Thanks beckycmarie. I did look at those sites last night.

As far as setting those traps, our dog, a Canadian Eskimo, is very protective of our house. If it was a human doing those things, he would have alerted us immediately.

For those of you with ‘haunting’ issues, some advice from a Catholic perspective:

Non-violent hauntings

Violent hauntings
Thank you for the info. I had heard that the Church allowed for ghostly apparitions, though not to that extent.

I as young teen, lived in a house that was “haunted”. Very easy-going ghost. Things would disappear(always small stuff) and a few days later, just reappear in plain sight. I shared a bedroom with my mother. One night as I was laying there, it was too hot to sleep, a mist formed into a human-shape at the foot of my bed. Strange thing was, there was a box fan in that window, drawing in the night air. This mist never wavered, it just went across the room and out the door. I was not really scared, I was fascinated. My mom had seen this before and had not told me. We later found out that a soldier from the Civil War had hung himself very near to where our bedroom was.

My family never felt threathened by this spirit, just sad when we heard it was suicide victim.

God Bless!

…when people speak of the spirits that roam the earth, why would they be stuck here? would God allow them to remain here? would’nt a soul either be in hell, purgatory, or heaven?
Rev 12.9
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: **he was cast out into the earth, and his angels **were cast out with him

who knows how many of Satan’s angels (demons) are roaming the earth 🤷

Someone is definitely living in your house with you, without your knowledge - whether it’s a ghost or a living person, is hard to say. If it were me, I’d start laying traps.

Ask that kid to tell you again what she heard in the hallway. Tell her you believe she really did hear something, and you want to know what it was.
Do you really think that somebody living in their house without their knowledge is the most probable of all answers?

Not really, no - I strongly suspect that there is a ghost. But I would want to rule out the possibility, first, before going after the ghost. 🙂

Although, I have several movies that feature people living in the attics of houses without the knowledge of the occupants. Perhaps this is one of those cases. 🤷

No one else besides me and my husband with our 2 cats and 1 dog live in our duplex. I am home 99% of the time.

Duplex …

Who’s on the other side? Is there any chance that sounds from the other side of the house are echoing and making themselves felt on your side? Is there any way that the people on the other side could have access to your side, to get in? (ie: was it ever a single dwelling, and is the partition secure?)
