Amen! Great Post.

If it weren’t for Billy Graham, there would be many people who had no faith in God at all. He introduces people to Jesus, with love and passion, and has maintained a faithful witness to Christ.

Can you imagine what he could do if he had access to all the sacraments!

Well, that is it then…how about we all pray for his conversion…I am sure if more of us knock on the door a few times, than Our Lord will open the door for us…there is strenghts in numbers:D
 
Without Billy Graham, this would be a more God-less world, and less spiritual.
 
While I don’t agree with all of his theology, Billy Graham is a good, holy man who loves the Lord and has dedicated his life to bringing people to Christ. I often watch his crusades on tv, and he always inspires me. Never once have I heard him say anything that condemned the Church. Granted, some of the things he says may be taken by us as assaults, but I don’t believe that’s his intent…he is stating his beliefs, and perhaps in doing so may offend our Catholic sensibilities. I think he has a beautiful, God-given gift to inspire and lead others “home”. He’s doing the work, sending information to local Catholic parishes/pastors…what then are we doing to follow up with these people is the question we might want to ask ourselves. I will continue to pray for Dr. Graham’s health and the success of his ministry. It is unfortunate that he does not have the fullness of the sacraments available to nourish and sustain him, but it’s never too late 🙂 . Pray a Rosary for him, have a Mass said for him, hold him up in prayer at your next Bible study. There aren’t enough great men in this world, but Dr. Graham certainly falls into that category.

I grew up baptist, converting to catholicism as an adult. In the fall of 1978, I was able to attend a crusade of his in Kansas City. hehe. Later that fall there was to be a special about Micky Mouse. At the beginning of the “event,” Mr. Graham said that he was asked to say a few words for the show. Since he was to be out of the country at the time of the filming, he was going to go ahead and have his bit taped. It was quite interesting.

Beyond that, his work is definately of God. No one could lead so many to Christ for so long and NOT be of God. And there’s all of his books as well. I have a few of them. AS some others have said, too bad he isn’t catholic. The only catholic “preacher” I’ve heard that compares with him is Fr. John Corapi.

I agree Christy and we could use many more priest like Fr. Corapi. I watched him on EWTN last week and he spoke very highly of Billy Graham. I was glad to hear that because he is the only Protestant preacher I have ever listen to. Some of his stuff is a little simple, which can become boring, but he is a very good man.
 
On another forum, a “protestant” called Mr. Graham a “charlaton.”(sp?) (Why don’t most forums have a spell check? My spelling is awful!) This person, he (or she) goes by the name Oracle there, believes that all who are “saved” speak in tongues. Basically he says that speaking in tongues shows we have bee baptized by the Holy Spirit. And without the Holy Spirit, we’re NOT saved. How stupid!!

Mr Graham has led many to Christ. He is one of the few big name evangelists who, I believe, is truly doing God’s work. So many others have proven to be false. Like Oral Roberts. Remember his attempt at raising a few million dollars for his ministry and school? “God said that if I don’t raise this money in 30 days, then He will call me home.” As if that isn’t what christians are trying for in the first place!!

Then, Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker. They turned God’s ministry into their own. When they “fell from grace,” Jimmy Swaggart made the comment that all Assembly of God preachers (like him and Jim) who got caught “with their pants down,” should be out of active ministry for a year. Well, when Mr. Swaggart got caught with his pants down, he threw a fit. After all, if he were out of ministry for a year, then he would lose HIS ministry. Isn’t it suppose to be GOD’S ministry? :confused:
 
Yes, Rev. Billy Graham and the Pope apparently consider each other friends…at least according to the preface Rev. Graham wrote to the “Life and Times of Pope John Paul II” book I saw at the book store a couple months a go. The Pope, while still a bishop in Poland, had actually invited Rev. Graham to preach at his cathredral (this was before they had actually met, they didn’t end up meeting until he was elected pope, as he was suddenly called away to the conclave, I think, when Rev. Graham was touring in Poland).

WhiteDove: There are thousands of devout, holy, and godly Protestant pastors and preachers, as a former Evangelical, I resent the notion that it is rare to find such men in Protestant churches.

Graham’s staff assures that decision cards made out by Catholics are forwarded to local Catholic churches (the same is true for all churched persons; unless they ask otherwise, they are referred to a church/synagogue of their own denomination).

Wow - I always liked him, he’s one of the great Protestant preachers I thought was truly honest and humble, but I had no idea about this, I just “assumed” he would take the opportunity to convert Catholics if given the chance like most other modern evangelists.
I am humbled by his charity! Makes me like him even more!

I dont think so because I listened to him on many occasions and he invits the backslider as well as the first timer to come forward. With that in mind, I wouod assume that he teaches you can fall out of God’s grace.
 
As a former S. Baptist, I think the world of Billy Graham. I remember watching the televised Crusades for years, and still do, when they are on. If you’re interested, on TBN, they show old Crusades occasionally.

Man, could/can he preach!!

(and whoever brought up Fr. Corapi was right, he rocks!!!)

Unfortunately, Reverend Graham is in poor health, so I think that prayers are definitely in order.

Let me be the first to nominate Dr. Graham. I always think of John Paul II, Mother Teresa and Bily Graham as a trio…I know that Mother T. is waiting for the other two to show up in heaven!

Billy Graham is THE (MODEL) of how non catholic christians should worship…instead of devoting their energies to us “evil catholics”

I also like to listen to (only when he is in sermon mode and not skewing his wacky “tribualtion” stuff and miscontruing the catholic church) Pastor Hagie (sp?) He’s a heavy set man, who can preach the bible, and admonish these evil times like nobody’s business…Catholic Priests should take notes from this guy’s style.

Faithful to Rome,

John Hagee is in my town. He is an ex-Catholic and very anti-Catholic. I do not have much respect for the man because his preaching seems to be about me me me, and he often uses screaming as a technique to draw applause. There are billboards for his Cornerstone Church around town, and some of them consist of a large picture of him with the words “Discover the Difference.” No mention of Christ at all. Also, he is a big promoter of the “Left Behind” theology and claims that he is one of the foremost experts on Bible prophecy about the Middle East (he has written several books on the subject). I could go on, but I just want to give you some caution about the man.

As for my opinion, I love Billy Graham. He’s a rare Protestant preacher who is totally dedicated to God and not the almighty dollar. He’s conducted his life very well, with only a few minor missteps. And, his preaching is great. What a speaker!

While I agree…Billy Graham is an awesome guy. Loves God with all his heart, I really hope you reread your post and understand how blantly offensive it is.

I have no connection with the SGG folks, but I basically agree with their take on Billy Graham. I think he is a fine preacher and very sincere, but I think he is sincerely wrong and is doing great damage, despite his best intentions.

I have a friend who is as Marian as you can imagine. She’s been to Medjugorje so many times she has honorary Croatian citizenship. Just kidding–but she does go to Fatima every year, and she’s been to Lourdes, Medjugorje, and Conyers multiple times. Oh, and she’s a Lady of the Holy Sepulchre.

Well, this very Catholic lady believes Billy Graham may be one of the “two witnesses” mentioned in the Book of Revelation. (Of course, that presupposes that we’re in the End Times…and that Dr. Graham will eventually become Catholic.)

What can I tell you? We’re from North Carolina. Billy Graham is our personal property… 😉

I love the man. Even though I wasn’t alive to see or hear him when he was having these huge “crusades”, I still watch them on the TBN network when they come on. What I liked about him the most was that he really didn’t preach on the sensitive points that split religions in two or many. It really doesn’t matter to me that he’s Protestant.
 
Thanks for the info…yes…its a shame he is anti catholic… but he does have a gift for sermons…maybe the church can get him back some day… like I said, when he is in his tribulation end times mode and not just simply preaching…I shut him off. One time he gave a sermon and used the tragedy of the Titanic to tie into our times and WOW! the guy blew me away…but yes…Catholics (especially those who are not secure in their own faith) should proceed with high caution.
 
“Superstar” Billy Graham was a legend back in the early days of wrestling. Oh wait, wrong Billy Graham.

Billy Graham is a Southern Baptist, and I believe that I have heard him preach “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS). I admit I could be wrong about that.

I checked out Billy Graham’s website to see what it says about OSAS. His site seems to dance around the OSAS controversy without ever coming out and actually stating where Billy Graham stands on this issue. I personally have never known a Southern Baptist that didn’t believe in OSAS. The antinomian flavor of OSAS is THE central dogma of the Southern Baptist religion, and I would be very surprised if Billy Graham has ever publically renounced OSAS as false doctrine.

Indifference to sin in one’s life is a sure sign of serious spiritual sickness, and may indicate that one has never truly invited Jesus into one’s life as Savior and Lord (1 John 2:3-4).

I’m a Christian. Will I lose my salvation if I sin?
This seems to be a standard Southern Baptist response - the backslid Christian may never have been really “saved” in the first place.

This answer is also hints of acceptance of OSAS without actually being explicit:
Does the Bible teach that every time you commit a sin you lose your salvation?
