Your preparation for Lent thread.

I created this thread for all to pray for the graces to needed for** their own** intentions during Lent to be more efficacious. When we say prayers for a good confession, and give thanks after confession, we get more out of the sacrament. This holds true for Lent as well.

So please use this thread to pray for the graces needed to realize your sacrifices for Lent. Pray that your sacrifices are pleasing to God. Lent starts Wednesday, March 1st.

Almighty and Everlasting God,
You have given the human race
Jesus Christ our Savior as a model of humility.
He fulfilled Your Will by becoming Man
And giving His life on the Cross.
Help us to bear witness to You
By following His example of suffering
And make us worthy to share in His Resurrection.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son.

Amen.

Dear Lord,
Please bless my efforts and give me the graces to fulfill my sacrifice for Lent this year of giving up smoking. Please keep me from gaining too much weight, which would be equally unhealthy, and dangerous. Please ease the withdrawal symptoms, so that I may not be tempted to sin.

Please also extend your graciousness to all those in the world during this penitential season, give all the graces they need to complete their sacrifices for your glory, especially our brothers and sisters in this forum who are dedicated in your service.

In your name in unity with the Holy Spirit we pray.
Amen.

I feel like there is an important growing crisis in the Church. Lent is a good time to reassess. For me to have a good Lent, at the end of it, I will have renewed my commitment to Christ, my will in Christ. And that includes the good the bad and the ugly. I don’t think the goal should be to come out like Pollyanna. But all the more reason to turn a fire hose on your own will, your convictions, beliefs, social, political and cultural positions. Let them dry in the sun. While they are doing so, take a few days off. To be spent in prayerful presence of Christ, thankfulness at the beauty, majesty, eternal nature of God, who is love. As this is revealed in creation, your life, everything around you. Living waters of Christ. But don’t forget your battle gear on the way back. 🙂 Love wins. I actually really mean that. Not ours…His.

Very nice thread, but I pray my prayers for Lent in private.

For everyone else’s intentions, I do pray …

Divine Mercy Chaplet

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

**Father in Heaven,

You have given us a mind to know you,

A will to serve you,

and a heart to love you.

Be with us today in all that we do,

so that your light may shine out in our lives.

May all that we learn be put to good use,

and may we praise you in all that we achieve.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

St Thomas More, Pray for us.

Amen.**

Lord, help me control my fleshly desires this
lent to fast twice weekly and to give alms in-
stead of wasting it on my own pleasures.
This I ask, for the Love of God and OTHERS.
Amen.

O gracious Master, infuse in our hearts the
spotless light of Your Divine Wisdom and
open the eyes of our mind that we may under-
stand the teachings of Your Gospel. Instill in
us also the fear of Your blessed command-
ments, so that having curbed all carnal desires,
we may lead a spiritual life, both thinking and
doing everything to please You. For You, O
Christ, our God, are the enlightenment of our
souls and bodies; and to You we render glory,
together with Your eternal Father, and with
Your all holy, life-creating Spirit, now and ever,
and forever.
Amen.

I pray that you will be successful in quitting
smoking for Lent and “offer it up” for intentions
for others.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the
beginning, is now and ever shall be,
world w/o end.
Amen.

Thank you Lord for the grace of a good confession for Lent …
