Have you ever written a story about why you left Mormonism?

I am curious as to what brought you to these forums, having left Mormonism?

An interesting site is Postmormon.org > Personal Accounts of Leaving Mormonism

For those that still have family and attend Sacrament Meetings, are people at www.newordermormon.org

=============================

My Short Story:

I joined the LDS faith Oct 30, 1971, and the 70’s were very interesting years, with the old beliefs, before the Priesthood Correlation Program took hold in the church. I had trouble with the concept of Eternal Marriage, I believe starting in the 1980’s, but no problem with the Baptism For the Dead bit.

My Sister had sent me some Cassette Tapes of Apostle Paul H. Dunn while I served in the USAF in Hawaii, in the late 1980’s. I was very moved by Paul Dunn’s Talks on tape, until sometime later, when he was found out to be a fraud, then EX’d out of the church, then that put a hole in my beliefs.

In the early 1990’s I joined the Singles Ward in SE Michigan, and really enjoyed being with the singles in that Ward, then upper management saught fit to remove all people over 30 out of that Singles Ward, then I promptly left the church, and I did not attend my home Ward, for quite some time… The Home Ward is a requirement if it’s boundry’s include your place of residence, and you cannot go elsewhere, except to visit.

I then Joined the RLDS Church in the 1990’s, I really loved it, and the people there, then after awhile the branch was closed for good.

I then started attending the Roman Catholic church by my house for along time, even trying RCIA, but then that parish went into financial ruin of over $800,000.

In Jan 2005 I made a commitment to attending my Home Ward, then attended for a period of a few weeks. That year was the year of the Joseph Smith Manual, shared by the Preisthood, and Relief Society. I got through this somewhat but got burned out and quit church all together, after having too much of Joseph Smith, and not much of any worship of our Lord Jesus Christ.

So now I am stuck, not having a place to worship.

So, do you have a story to tell here?

Thanks,
Geocacher

I believe someone here has a website and contains many conversion stories of those who converted to Catholic. I hope someone can provide the link for you.

Right now, you can follow this thread - a husband who is about to get baptised at a Catholic church.

Maybe you can look at other Catholic churches in your area.

God bless.

Born and raised Mormon. Started to question a lot of Mormon beliefs in my early teens. Was “inactive” by my early twenties, atheist by the time I was thirty.
