Your thoughts about Catholic Radio?

Apologies for the double post, but I get the impression that I may have killed the thread. 😛

But yes, I stopped listening to the local Catholic Radio station when they cancelled coverage of a local mass and Novena prayer to make room for two more anti-abortion rants. And they were rants, in my opinion. They couldn’t cover any new ground. What new ground is there? And they weren’t talking to anyone who hadn’t made a decision. The notion that if you were really pro-life, you would never tire of the subject is inherently insulting.

I appreciated having a station that gave a daily sermon (homily). I don’t dwell on abortion 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year firstly because it’s deeply depressing. But more than that, because the majority of my needs as a believer don’t have anything to do with abortion. The parables of Jesus. Prayer. The history of our faith. Preaching Christ crucified, dead, and buried. The third day He rose from the dead. He will come again in glory to judge the quick and the dead. The local Protestant stations are rather lightweight; but a Johnny-one-note on the kazoo is not substance.

I can only imagine how that programming change must have affected shut-ins who depended on the radio for their daily mass.
