Your thoughts - John 14:6, Revelation 21:27

As I was pondering John 14:6 - “I am the way, the truth and the life” - I came up with some interesting parallels for the way and the life, but I was pondering “the truth” when I thought of this verse:

Revelation 21:27

But nothing unclean shall enter it, nor anyone who practices abomination or falsehood, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

The word “falsehood” caught my eye because it is the opposite of “the truth” and Jesus is the Truth, but then I looked again and saw the book of life. Hey, I said, we have the truth AND the life here too. And then before that, one who practices abomination. Would practicing abomination be the opposite of “the way” that Jesus is? I think so.

So long story short, I see a direct parallel between John 14:6 and Revelation 21:27 - no one who is unlike Jesus will get into the kingdom of heaven. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and no one gets to heaven except through him - and by through him we must become like him, being purified.

This seems like an even stronger argument for purgatory, when you connect John 14:6 to this verse.

I did a google search and couldn’t find anyone else slamming these two verses together, so I thought I’d post this to get your comments.

Well, I’d say you found yourself a nice little pearl there, Andre - thanks for sharing! I haven’t seen that connection anywhere else either; but there clearly is a connection. And you can add one more: I/Lamb. That is, the great I AM is the Lamb of God!

Indeed that is a great correlation that you came to realize.  Scott Hahn discusses the two in one of his talks he does through lighthouse catholic media.  But great work. I enjoyed reading your post.  It reminded me of the beautiful connection.
