Calling networks works - only when great numbers of people do so. I’ve tried it - emails, calls and the like - not regarding The View but for other shows. Yields little to nothing. Boycotting sponsors - providing it’s large in numbers? A definite move in the right direction. It takes solid numbers - and alot of consistency - not giving up.
You never know. If your email is read by one person and deleted and then that one person mulls it around in his mind, acts differently in the future, your contact made a difference. Sometimes you never know how far reaching your efforts are.

That’s not to say a bigger effort by more of us won’t yield even more of a difference!

I had no idea who Joy Behar was until channel surfing last week I caught a comment from Behar on her tv show to her female guest about the ‘real funny clip’ of this guest they were getting ready to show re: the pope. The female guest is a comedian and jewish, per her self discription. The clip was about all the $ in/at the Vatican and the suggestion that Pope Benedict XVI cash it all in for the poor and then she, the guest, would forget Pope B’s nazi association. These ignorant liberal people are bigots.

You should actually feel a little pity for her, usually when someone is that unattractive, it’s made up for them with a higher IQ . . . not her.

For just one example, a couple of weeks ago she was talking about Sarah Palin and ranting on and on about how anyone who even questions Global Warming is an idiot, then she mentioned all the proofs right before our eyes of Global Warming, and brought up ***increased earthquakes ***. . . yes, according to her, Global Warming is also causing the earth’s crust to shake hundreds of miles beneath it’s surface. The woman makes Rosie O’Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg look like Einstein and Heisenberg

She thinks only whites can be racist. She said that There is no racism in the u.s anymore because the u.s elected a black president. (but that thought only lasted to the next segment.) Her fame has spread to Australia. Carried all the way on two things.
Stupidity and arrogance

*Joy Behar is somewhat interesting…but, she is very anti Catholic, for some reason. I don’t care for her show, and I avoid The View, like the plague. :o I don’t mind varying views…I just can’t watch shows that are nothing but negative non truths about the Church, and christians, with no counter to them. *

What does her attractiveness have to do with anything? This is a serious question. It’s one thing if you don’t like her, but why is there such an onus on attractiveness? I think beauty standards are stupid, and not all people who are intelligent are unattractive. I am apparently attractive to a lot of people, but I’m not unintelligent by any means.

*Edit, I meant intelligent, not stupid… Oops

Eris, her attractiveness has nothing to do with anything, *BUT *. . . she is such a loathsome, and yes, hate-filled human being, that’s it’s enjoyable to bring up the fact that she is butt ugly. You watch the way she goes after people who don’t have the same politics as her, I’ve seen more than enough nasty comments from that self-loathing woman to feel no shame commenting on her looks.

That’s fine, so long as it doesn’t carry over to other women. I don’t watch The View, unless someone I really like is on it, and that’s once in a blue moon. I just have some issues with beauty being brought into it. It’s one of those things that strike a nerve. Probably because of my appearance, I’m not exactly conventionally pretty, though I’ve been told I’m good looking, I’m a punk kid. Crazy hair and facial piercings included. I also dislike the notion of pretty people being stupid. If she’s as bad as you say, then she has a lot more wrong with her than her looks. 🙂 I don’t like when people attack others for beliefs. It’s wrong on any side.

Here’s the biggest shocker of all: Joy Behar was raised CATHOLIC !!!
I almost dropped my teeth when I read that about her. I would have sworn she was Jewish.
This woman absolutely makes my skin crawl. She’s ignorant, uninformed on just about everything she shoots her mouth off about, RUDE, obnoxious, crass, vulgar, and so full of herself it’s nauseating. Just seeing a photo of her, catching a glimpse of her while changing channels, and listening to that voice of hers makes my blood pressure skyrocket.
She has absolutely nothing intelligent to say about ANYTHING.
It boggles my mind that she’s even on the air in ANY capacity, and that anyone with an ounce of brains in their head would give her a nanu-second of their attention.
Such a sad commentary on what the masses find entertaining.
Unfortunately, there’s many more “celebs” just like her.
Can’t someone just make her vaporize ???

Her presence on TV really exposes the level of entertainment, news editorials, and political discourse (all things in which she dabbles) in this country.

Frightening, isn’t it?

She not only was raised Catholic, but taught in a Catholic school at one point.

I think the one poster that said she was unattractive was saying her attitude and the things she says makes her unattractive, I don’t think it was a comment on her physical attributes. Some people can be “beautiful” on the outside and by world standards, but really ugly none the less because of the garbage they put out in the world.

I am just sick and tired of her nasty comments regarding Catholics. Now she says we’re all schizophrenics (sp?). I don’t understand why people like her are allowed to bash Catholics openly without consequence but there is NO way anybody could ever make those types of comments about say, the Jewish or Muslim religion. Your comments?
They have not the guts to say any thing about Muslims, etc. Only Christians get bashed. Its political correctness of the left wing loonies.

– look at this new attack by Singer Joni Mitchell::mad:😦

Starbucks and Joni Mitchell Lash Out At Catholic Church On New CD
.
Elderly hippie, Joni Mitchell is back out of retirement after nine years, and she’s on the attack. In the title track to her new album, “Shine,” Mitchell takes a nice swipe at the Catholic Church by name.

“Shine on the Catholic Church/And the prisons that it owns,” she sings. “Shine on all the Churches/that love less and less.”

Mitchell was never one to mince words, but in her triumphant return on Starbucks’ Hear Records, she doesn’t give an inch.

In “Shine,” she continues: “Shine on lousy leadership/Licensed to kill/Shine on dying soldiers/In patriotic pain/Shine on mass destruction/In som:mad:

I have ruminating on this thread from a awhile and finally feel compelled to ask; Why does anyone consider the people such as Joy Behar, her cohorts on the View such as Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O’Donnell, and Oprah to be be so important and influential in shaping their opinions. Not to seem like I’m bashing women, it is also fair to lump Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, Bill Maher, Patrick Buchanan, and Bill O’Reilly in the same bucket. To be fair, to a certain extent, and at the risk of flames, Michael Moore at times belongs there too, but he seems to have facts to back up his opinions

To any person who is truly well educated it should be obvious that most of these people have no idea of that which they speak. They have no facts, no sources, no knowledge to hold up their opinions. Yes do have opinions, to which they are entitled, but these opinions are passed off as fact.

I for one wouldn’t read a book because its on Oprah’s book list. I wouldn’t form my opinion on the commentary of Joy Behar or Bill Maher. Shouldn’t we all be forming opinion based on facts rather than the opinion of others.

Is Joy Behar important or even relevant. To Catholics, yes, but only in the sense that she passes of her hated as fact. Is Patrick Buchanan important or even relevant? Only in as much as he spews hatred yet proudly waves the facts that he Catholic. Is Michael Moore important or even relevant? Again, only because he is Catholic when it convenient, such as his touting being being Catholic in Capitalism: A Love Story, yet all along being pro-Abortion

Past that, I have pimples that deserve more attention than they all do.

God bless

Tony

In other words, Joni hasn’t learned a thing in forty years.

As for Behar and the other members of that coven, they’re the best reason I know for exercising the “Power off” button on the TV.

I don’t think its a matter of letting people like you cited shape our opinions. For me, I’m just tired of being the politically correct punching bag. Its ok to pick on the Catholics its seems, but try the same thing with the Muslims or the Jews and people are up in arms about it. Someone in the entertainment industry says something about the Catholics, and we the Catholics are being unreasonable for being offended. And the more we Catholics don’t say something, the more the general public will accept that saying such stuff about being a Catholic is acceptable and ok.

Yes its an option to turn off the tv or switch the channel, but sometimes its also worthwhile to say enough is enough.
