Your truth or Gods truth??

Your premise is wrong…“their” truth is a possessive…God’s truth is not “my” or “their” truth…its God’s. Simply because Truth is not something…it is someone…a person!

God reveals it (Himself) in His Word…His Word made Flesh (the Person of Our Lord Jesus Christ)…we can accept Him…and experience Him…and follow Him …but it is never “my” or “their” truth…it is always, everywhere and at all times and in eternity…God’s truth…because Truth is not something…it is Someone… a Person…God is Truth…God, the Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity said:
John 14: 6-7 (New International Version)
6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."
The same God who said…(1) let there be light…and there was light…and (2) on the third day I will rise from the dead…and on the third day, he did rise from the dead…is the same God who said…I am the way and the truth and the life…and so he is…so he is!

Looks like we need an independent source to prove Gods truth?

Interesting that you are using the bible to prove Gods truth. Is this the only independent and reliable source of Gods truth? Doesnt it make sense that God would only reveal His truth through a source that was His alone?

How perceptive. He did reveal His Truth through a source that was His alone: His Son, Jesus Christ, the LIVING Word of God.

Your question seems somewhat general…

God’s truth should be in the subject, not the predicate! 🙂
Objectively, God’s truth is greater than the cosmos.
God chose to send the Son amongst us; fulfilling the prophesies, including in Isaiah.
The Son live, died, and rose to save us.
He instituted the Church, and historically it is the Church we call Catholic, meaning Universal. He sent the Holy Spirit amongst us:

*“When the Advocate comes, whom I shall send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who issues from the Father, He will be my witness. And you too will be my witnesses.” *[John 15: 26-27] *“When He comes, He will show the world how wrong it was, about sin…and about judgement” and “about who was in the right: proved by my going to the Father…proved by the prince of this world already being condemned.” *Jesus promised, “I still have many things to say to you but they would be too much for you now. But when the Spirit comes He will lead you to the complete truth…All He tells you will be taken from what is mine.” “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and then you will be my witnesses not only in Jerusalem but indeed…to the ends of the earth.” [John 16:8-9, 12-13, 15]

Before His ascension, Jesus said,* “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore, make disciples of all the nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you. And know that I am with you always, yes even to the end of time.” *[Matthew 28:17-20]

Then on Pentecost day, “They had all met in one room, when suddenly they heard what sounded like a powerful wind from heaven…and something appeared to them that seemed like tongues of fire; these separated and came to rest on the head of each of them. They were filled with the Holy Spirit.” [Acts 2:2-4] “It is the Spirit that gives life; the flesh has nothing to offer.” [John 6:63]
“This mystery [of Christ] that has now been revealed through the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets was unknown to anyone in past generations; it means that pagans now share the same inheritance, that they are parts of the same body, and the same promise has been made to them, in Christ Jesus, through the gospel.” [Ephesians 3:4-7]

Im sure if I challenged you to give me evidence for what you have stated that you would use bible verses to confirm your belief in what you have stated. How then would you try to confirm beliefs that you have no bible verses to confirm that they are Gods truth?

How does a person try to confirm what they believe to be Gods truth when they dont have His source to confirm that it is His truth?

First and foremost, one needs to define ‘God’ before ‘Truth’ can be defined.

I very much doubt that most Christians would be able to define ‘God’ without conflicting with their own beliefs about Jesus (pbuh).

Why do I get the feeling this is going to turn into some rant on how great Sola Scriptura is?

There is no absolute proof of Truth, that does not mean there is not a solitary truth. We gather the evidence and we come to the best conclusion we can, ultimately we must acknowledge we can not know the entirety of God’s Truth until we are united with him, and even then I doubt everything becomes clear.

The source which provides the best evidence of the Truth of God is Holy Tradition. This includes, but is not limited to the Bible.

You also think that people who do prostrations magically turn into Muslims, quite frankly your theology on the subject seems a little shaky to put much weight on.

If one is indeed able to define ‘God’ without it conflicting with one’s own religious beliefs, then one should have no reluctance whatsoever in prostrating to the One who is defined as being God.

I do prostrate to the One God, but that has absolutely nothing to do with this thread. You should either start a new one or go back to that other one if you really want to start up this discussion again.

Same with discussing the Christian idea of a single God. Really doesn’t belong here.

That’ll happen when Babe grows wings or Satan suddenly says, “Did it get a little chilly in here?”

The topic of the thread is ‘Your truth or Gods truth??’, is it not?

Why do you say that such discussion about Christian beliefs does not belong here?
