This is a new twist. Rather than banning a user or a channel YT has apparently taken to restricting some videos that they deem “offensive”.

Is YouTube censoring Prager University?
Prager University believes they are being censored by YouTube. The company publishes five minute educational videos using graphics and animation. Abortion is a common topic for Prager University; one of their recent videos, comparing abortions laws in Europe and America, was recently featured on Live Action News.
But strangely, YouTube has placed this video, and 20 other Prager University videos, under “restricted” mode. This is 10% of their entire collection. (A full list of the restricted Prager University videos can be found here.) Restricted mode is used to screen out potentially “objectionable” content, and is often used by families to keep their children from seeing videos with graphic violence or sexual content…neither of which can be found in the Prager University videos.

YT also restricted the liberal Alan Dershowitz for a video supporting Israel because it was published on Praeger U.

If you subsribe to any YT channels, esp. Christian or conservative ones try to find out if they have been restricted, then check your setting to see if you are blocking “offensive” content.
 
As a private company YouTube is not obligated to put out anyone’s videos. That’s it in a nutshell.
 
This is why it is worrisome that private corporations such as Google (the owner of YouTube) control access to so much information. It is a position which we freely grant them, but the fact is that they have the ability to control what we see.

A video comparing abortion restrictions in Europe and the USA is restricted information. Really?
 
Someone may be pulling someone’s leg. I just logged off of YouTube (so they wouldn’t know who was accessing it) and clicked on the video in question, and it came right up. No restrictions, no nothing.

Edit: I searched up a couple others on the supposed “restricted list,” and they also came right up. There is no problem, at least not now.

True. But they claim that they do not discriminate by political viewpoint.

If they do discriminate, then they are lying. 🤷 Still, it’s up to them what they put out on the web and what they don’t because they are privately owned. There’s no legal way to make them put out anything they don’t want to for whatever reasons they like.

None of their videos are blocked on my connections and I have the restricted parental controls set.
 
More likely a workplace firewall restricting things…they are often set to find keywords and can block things that might not be what they intended.
 
The USofA invented the internet [not Al Gore] and now we have signed it away.

Most places do not believe in freedom of speech.

Not Canada.

Not Mexico.

Not lots of places.

Not the United Nations.

Sigh.
 
Know what I had about Youtube? When they superimpose gay pride flag on your video without your permission. Privately owned company or not, they should at least ask.
 
I heard they restrict any videos with any sort of Catholic message. Then I went and watched a bunch of Catholic videos on YouTube, and realized that it isn’t YouTube that can’t be trusted, but rather the information sources that spread blatant lies to instigate fear that can’t be trusted. Like the one found in the first post, for example.

When did this happen? I don’t remember seeing or hearing that, but since I have a bunch of browser extensions to block various things, I wonder if it just happened to block that by chance. 🤷

I have never seen it, and I am on YouTube a LOT.

That may be the constitutional view, but I t seems to be contrary to modern law. Certain things are protected. You can’t discriminate based on religion or political affiliation.

Freedom of association has been all but set aside by modern law. Maybe that’s good thing and maybe it isn’t, but that’s how it is. 🙂 When modern law finally goes too far perhaps the constitution will again be interpreted according to original intention instead of the prevailing “feelings” of the day.
 
Well, the FCC still censors network tv, even non movie channel cable stations are not allowed to show some types of nudity or air certain curse words, Ive even seen the 3 letter word for a donkey bleeped out on a major network, and this was even after 9pm!

So this still goes on today despite everyone claiming to be against censorship, and also while the nations morals have gone out the window over the years recently, but Ive never heard anyone calling for the FCC to stop doing this…?
