Actually the opposite is happening. Many women in European countries are not having enough babies to replenish the population!

I think I understand what you mean. Though its funny, the person who gives 10% after taxes (but without having it deducted as being for charitable purposes) is left with 54$ out of the original 100$. And the one who gives 10% prior to taxes (and wisely writes it down and gets it deducted) is also left with 54$ out of the original 100$.

The one who gives 10% after taxes and wisely deducts, of course still gives what amounts to 6%, and saves 2.4$.

6% at any rate is usually more than most bishop asks for. If everyone in the parish who was baptised actually paid that I’m not sure they would even know what to do with the money. 😆

Yeah, though its not quite that bad yet, and if it does become bad we can start to economically incentivising people having kids. Denmark makes up for it with some immigration.

A slow and gentle population decrease isn’t actually bad.

I’m not sure economic incentives really work well enough. There are aspects to the single and/or childless life that are enticing.

I disagree. Having a child is very expensive, and many industrialised countries do surprisingly little to make it more affordable to have a child. More should be done so that women can hold a job and keep a family. If this is done, more people will choose that option, as right now its either a choice between a career or domestic life.

Men should also be encouraged to take paternity leave, and share the burden of the child together with their wife. A move away from the idea that men should be breadwinners in general would be a good idea.

Much can be done. I don’t think its time to give into despair, and blame everything on luxuries.

A friend of mine and his wife worked it out. He came home from work and she left for work shortly after.
