I am a dental hygienist and have taken hundreds of impressions as well as placing fluoride trays into mouths.

I have never been bitten, but one child did puke.

The assistant/hygienist should have explained to you what was going to happen. Also, if you ever have to ho through having impressions done again, try breathing through your nose. Also, if the assistant/hygienist places mixes the impression material with warmer water instead of cooler, the impression material will harden quickly.

Gagging is a reflex many people can’t help.

Don’t worry about it. You didn’t do it on purpose.

LOL!!!

A couple of years back I had to have some impressions done.

I TOLD the woman i didnt want it done, that i would gag.

She was having none of it.

Everything was fine though, I was breathing through my nose, and not gagging at all.

Then half way through the amazingly long time it takes to get an impression, my saliva started to accumulate, I couldnt take and tried to swallow. That set off the gag reflex and I started choking.

She was holding the thing in with all her strength and there is me yanking on her arm (while choking) trying to get it out.

She resists for about 5 seconds then gives up.

I have that stuff everywhere in my mouth, it hasnt set, and Im dribbling like a dog.

I spend 5 minutes washing it all out.

And then we did it again…

Thank God it was okay the second time.

p.s It wasnt a mortal sin, or even a venial sin, but a reflex!!

HAHAHAH Paris I love you, thats the greatest story ive heard in a while. Yeah, i bit the dentist once too but thats what they get for using the drill! jk Anyway, i hope you have more stories for us in the future
