Zechariah 8: 20-23 OT Prophecy Fulfilled?

Please help me to properly interpret the following verses as it pertains to prophecy. Is this something that has already been fulfilled in the NT, or is this an example of OT prophecy that has yet to pass? Thx!

Many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem and to implore the favor of the LORD.

Thus says the LORD of hosts: In those days ten men of every nationality, speaking different tongues, shall take hold, yes, take hold of every Jew by the edge of his garment and say, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.”

I don’t see any indication that it was fulfilled. Here is what they Haydock Bible Commentary says

Ver. 22. Lord. Many were converted in the days of Esther, (viii. 17.) and the Pharisees were eager to make proselytes in all parts, when Christ preached, Matthew xxiii. 15., and Acts ii. 11. Yet we must go to the Church to see this fully accomplished. (Calmet)

Ver. 23. Ten men, &c. Many of the Gentiles became proselytes to the Jewish religion before Christ; but many more were converted to Christ by the apostles and other preachers of the Jewish nation. (Challoner) — Skirt, or hem, by which the Jews were distinguished, Numbers xv. 38., and Matthew ix. 20. (Calmet)

I am still trying to find a Catholic site that has the 100 prophecies fulfilled by Christ. Copeland3???

I think you can’t go wrong with what tobinatorstark posted with the Haydock commentary, that seems to nail the meaning of it.

In the Church, the prophecy has been fulfilled on many levels, yet what Zacariah is prophesying has a complete, full and future fulfillment when Jesus returns to judge the world and deliver Jerusalem.

Zechariah also talks about the Jews “looking upon him whom they have pierced”, and “mourning for him as one mourns for an only son”. Compare to Joseph (Gen 37-49) who was rejected by his own and then saved the world, and in the end reveals himself to his brothers who loathe themselves for rejecting the one who is now ruler of the known world.

Zechariah’s oracle is very explicit about the LORD fighting for Israel, touching down on the Mount of Olives, etc… it revolves around the return of Christ and the day of the LORD as it pertains to Jerusalem and the gathering of all nations against her.

All that has been prophesied concerning the Covenants made with the Patriarchs, David and Israel will be fulfilled completely and in their fullest expression. “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my Words will never pass away”.
