I wonder where he got his statement of Faith. It does not read like the Westminster confession however it has elements of it. I would like to prepare some intelligent responses to this guy. Does anyone have any ideas on the best approach to a died in the wool Calvinist like this or should I just let it be?
I personally know Zack. For a couple of months he and I were part of a campus ministry, I was an Anglican priest at the time.
Zack is a new convert, at least when I knew him. And a newly converted calvinist. I, like Al Mohler, think new calvinists converts should be kept away from others until a certain maturity is established. He was, according to my calvinist friends, some what over zealous. He was attending a PCA, Reformed/Calvinist, church when he lived in Pensacola.
I do find it interesting he is involved with CARM.
How to deal with Zack. Don’t. He will not listen to you. He has to win at all costs. I found that out when he was with me as I discussed scripture and Christianity with some mormon missionaries. He effectively shut down any type of dialogue we may have obtained.
He loved to get catholic students and he was always looking for a good argument, not discussion. But he does not listen. Last time I saw him on campus, before I walked away from this ministry, he wanted me to help him “debate” a catholic who he had ambushed coming out of the student union. Needless to say I did not.
Zach has a very distorted view of anything not calvinistic. He has actuallly told me he believed his parents, methodists, are going to hell. Though that does distract from the calvinistic belief in predestination.
Rome is the whore of babylon, the pope the antichrist. Find better things to do that engage Zack. Wash your hair or the dog…hey try washing the cat…that would be more interesting and satisfying.
He from time to time sends me stuff to reach. I delete and move on. I suggest you do the same.
Again, I personally know Zack. He is a fellow Christian, just very very confused. He is also very young and needs to mature in his faith and life.
