‘Euthanasia means killing someone’: Sydney Cardinal issues blunt pro-life challenge

SYDNEY, June 21, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – While euthanasia remains illegal in Australia, the country is a centre of international lobbying work to legalize the practice, and now the cardinal archbishop of Sydney, the leader of the Catholic Church in Australia, is calling for citizens, especially Catholics, to strenuously oppose it.

In the bluntest possible terms, Cardinal Pell said in an open letter, “We might shoot a dying dog, but no human, no matter how old or sick, is just an animal. It is wrong to kill innocent human life.”

While traditional moral values have remained strong in Australia, Pell warns that there are signs of a shift in attitudes towards secularization and moral relativism. There is “considerable confusion and blind spots; for example, on abortion and human cloning.”

“Many young Australians,” he said, “are moral relativists at least in matters of sexuality and questions of life and death.”

But, he says, there are fundamental moral truths that anyone can discover through the use of reason, “truths which are embodied in the natural law and confirmed by Christ himself and the Ten Commandments.

“You shall not kill. You shall not destroy innocent human life. Every human being has a right to life.”

The cardinal goes on to ask, “what is euthanasia?” But while euthanasia campaigners shy away from the blunt reality, focusing on suffering, he responds, “Euthanasia means killing someone… usually one who is weak and vulnerable because of illness or disability.”

The State of Victoria has one of the worst abortion “laws” on earth, apparently second only to China!

Euthanasia was legalised in the Northern Territory years ago; but it was overridden by the then Federal Government. But, of course, the pressure`s still there.

The State of New South Wales recently passed legislation legalising same sex adoption.

There`s yet another push in federal parliament to overturn the current definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman. The push is led by The Greens whose leader (in and out of parliament) is a practising homosexual.

Thats all i can think of at short nottice; but in any case, were down there with the worst!

He certainly is…sadly. It was only a few years ago that i found out.

i really respected him for what he did during the campaign to stop the Gordon-below-Franklin project, including his arrest and (short) imprisonment. i still respect and admire him for that! Later on, i gave quite a lot to his Bush Heritage Fund. It was only by slow degrees that i came to realise the dark side of the Green Movement. At that stage, of course, i still wasnt aware of Browns orientation. Please note that this is not a condemnation of anyone who suffers from SSA (Same Sex Attraction)! Its the practising of it thats being condemned. Even worse is the public proclaiming of it, as Brown did in Parliament.
Even worse (!): i voted for The Greens a couple of times, before becoming aware of their agenda.

Every time we sin, we damage ourselves, we damage others, and we damage Creation itself. It`s ironic that the political party which claims to stand for the environment is probably causing more damage to the environment than any other group, due to its policies.

It`s a real tragedy. All we can do is pray for him and his.

Wish you hadn`t mentioned the words: “Supreme Court”!

From the 6th of February 1996 to the 2nd of February 2009, one of the judges of the High Court of Australia was a practising homosexual, living (currently) with a “domestic partner”.
He was appointed to the position by a “Catholic” Australian Labor Party Prime Minister.
During a talk to a group of students at a Catholic boys` secondary school, this judge suggested that people who are “homophobic” should be…“re-educated”…! (Indoctrinated would be a better word.)

The judges replacement is openly lesbian, living with a "female partner", and also appointed by an Australian Labor Party Prime Minister. She has been actively engaged in the "LGBT" movement since at least 1978. No doubt, her replacement will be "gay", if the appointment is made by yet another Labor Party Prime Minister...... speaking of whom: this countrys current PM is a woman living in a de facto relationship (with a man). Shes a member of "EMILYs List Australia", and has a voting record appropriate for a member of that group.

Thatll do for a start! What great examples ("role models") for todays young people!
