‘NOBODY READ IT’: Paul rips Congress over $1.1T spending bill
Published December 20, 2015 FoxNews.com
A fired-up Sen. Rand Paul said Sunday he voted against the massive $1.1 trillion spending bill because not only was it rushed through Congress – but no one had a chance to read it.
“It was over a trillion dollars, it was all lumped together, 2,242 pages, nobody read it, so frankly my biggest complaint is that I have no idea what kind of things they stuck in that bill in the middle of the night,” Paul, R-Ky., said . . . .

Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders voted with Rand paul against the bill. Marco Rubio was absent.

People elect democrats and republicans and then are surprised when government spending is out of control.

Concerning the December 2015 Omnibus spending bill, Senator Mitch McConnell stated (emphasis mine) . . . .
We passed a balanced budget for the first time since 2001.”
Senator McConnell said this between 46 seconds and 52 seconds (here and here).

In light of the record-breaking national debt (here), can someone tell me what Senator McConnell means by approving . . . .“a balanced budget”??

Thanks.

God bless.

What’s a trillion dollars? Obviously, the whole spending thing has been out of control for a while.

Ed

And nobody asked me about it 🙂

I feel less and less like there is a political party that represents me. I thought we had done something good in the last election. evidently not.

If all these other special interests groups can get stuff passed by ‘hiding’ it among other bills, putting it on the back page and other tactics, why cant an abortion law or bill be sort of stuck in there too, with no one realizing its there?

Seems like this kind of thing only works for the Dems…?

The republican party is a feckless paper tiger. They talk about cutting spending every election cycle but do nothing about it. Congressional elections are being held next year. I will remember this vote. For instance, there are two “conservatives” running for Senate in my state. One voted for this monstrosity and the other voted against it. Guess which one I’ll be supporting??

I wonder what our debt is up to now?!

FoxNews has apparently updated the title to . . .

Well, the really sad thing is that this is only just over 1/4, 25%, of the total they plan to spend this year alone. You read that right: It seems the actual expected total expenditures is $3.99 Trillion, almost 4 times what is currently being publicized.

IOW, this bill was only about *discretionary *spending. Mandated spending is around $2.89 Trillion.

And our expected revenues are under 1/2 Trillion dollars, at $457 billion. Ain’t that grand–Not!!!

The absence is no surprise. I have always thought Paul made the most sense but apparently no one else is listening outside congress either.

The difference is these hidden things are appropriations. They are taking from taxpayers and giving to a narrow interest group. That is easy to do. That is what democracy is. It is a bunch of narrow interest groups getting a handout. An anti abortion law isn’t a handout for anyone and will actually take away handouts for narrow interest groups, like Planned Parenthood.

Yep.Once again the Republicans capitulate to the Dems. You would think that Nancy Pelosi is still Speaker !

and we got rid of Boehner too!
It would be a mistake to think Boehner was an aberration. He was a perfect representation of the heart of the Republican Party. The Republican Party has always been an establishment party that favors big business and big government. It has with great embarrassment, in order to get votes, allowed social conservatives to think they have a voice in the party.

The idea that the republican party is the party of small government is one of the biggest cons foisted on the American people.

I have to agree with you.I am pretty disenchanted with the RepuLucan Party. For the most part, they do not represent my ideology.
