Fresno priest defies bishop on Prop 8 during Sunday Mass, later admits he’s homosexual in television news interview

Full article…

This is a sad day for the priesthood when a man of god has turned to serve the flesh and the devil. We should pray for his return to the flock.

Pong:

If this person is a true practicing homosexual, are you really going to try to tell me that he has a place in the Catholic Church as he is?

marietta

We should be praying that he leave behind that lifestyle and return to the faith. We can’t condone his behavior, but we can’t condemn him either. His behavior, yes. Him, no. 😦

So you are thoroughly convinced that homosexuality is a “lifestyle”?

It is certainly something which can be modified through behavior. However, priests are married to the Church, and so their “orientation” should always be to her, not the flesh. How is it any better for a heterosexual priest to practice, if he desires human flesh more than the Church? It is sinful either way, and a shattering of his sacred vows.

Christ’s peace.

How does a practicing homosexual modify his behavior in order to be welcomed back into the Church? Deny his preference? Pretend to be hetero? I can see this response coming: “He could pray, refuse to act on his drives, pray, give it up to God, pray . . .” Is it so difficult for a practicing Catholic to entertain the notion that, for true homosexuals, the “lifestyle” is not a dalliance or an experiment or a rebellion? This is the way they are hardwired.

Catholics’ aggressive push for women to continue problem pregnancies which ultimately will bring babies into the world who have Tay Sachs, anencephaly, cystic fibrosis, any of the trisomies *also *lobby for women to carry feti to term who five or ten or twenty-five years after birth discover, as young men, that they are not sexually attracted to women but rather to men. Catholics very nearly demand the birth of these children and then piously close God’s door in their faces.

It’s just a door. A door closed by ignorance. At least God has an open heart.

Yes. Yes, I am.

Nowhere in the article does it state that he is a ‘true practicing homosexual’, he only says he’s gay.

Celibacy.

Open to what? Condoning abortion? Homosexuality? Fornication? Adultery? Never…

But Christ’s Church is open to help people overcome these problems - Always.

And is it He Who demands that such “defective” babies be killed? Is your complaint that the world isn’t perfect? I am in chemo for stage four cancer and I don’t have as many complaints as you!

Those who are not affected by certain conditions in life are oftentimes more upset than those who are. It is our cross to bear, and a blessed one it is.

Did I miss the part in the article where the priest said he was an active homosexual?

po18guy:

Phemie is correct
: the priest is, evidently, homosexual and celibate, as priests should be - not a practicing homosexual.

Now, then . . . considering his celibacy, can you explain why “a few parishioners left in tears” when he announced his homosexuality? What was so sorrowful?

“And is it He Who demands that such ‘defective’ babies be killed? Is your complaint that the world isn’t perfect? I am in chemo for stage four cancer and I don’t have as many complaints as you!” I’m not dismayed that the world isn’t perfect. Perfection would be boring.

Wouldn’t it be fabulous if everyone were celibate for a year? That way we could all understand the demands the Church makes upon its priests.

Pier:

“Open to what? Condoning abortion? Homosexuality? Fornication? Adultery? Never…” With the exception of homosexuality, these items are immaterial. And is homosexuality a “problem”? For whom?

**wanner47: **

“So you believe that God condones and approves of sin?” No sex, no harm, no foul, no sin.
