Appeals court asked: Did San Francisco Board of Supervisors violate First Amendment when it adopted resolution bashing the Catholic Church?

Full article…

I urge all Catholics in San Francisco to apply for jobs with the city. Those who already have jobs with the city should put in for promotion.

Any Catholics who are turned down should sue for discrimination, citing this resolution as a covert directive to encouirage anti-Catholic discrimination.

Sounds like the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and their political friends are past masters at hate speech and intolerance themselves. Ultra liberal fascist—what next.

I’m so glad I live in Texas, but unfotunately Austin and Dallas may be heading in the same direction.

I see they just had to put in a line about “formerly known as Holy Office of the Inquisition.” !

I think a lot of Catholics have already moved out. It’s too expensive to raise a family there. Surely it’s too expensive on a public servant’s salary.

Since they said they didn’t want to “foreign country” influence of the Vatican, I wonder if they have the same problem with the influence from European countries?

Shhhhh! Don’t tip our hand prematurely.

After we sue for discrimination, and we have them on the ropes, we sue for higher pay. The low pay is designed to discriminate against Catholics – who have more children. So Catholics must be paid more than other people.😛

How can you be anti-Catholic in a city named after Francis of Assisi? :whacky:

hee hee…

That’s like affirmative action…by encouraging the agnostic/athiests/etc, they discourage the religious at the same time.

Just like we need a color-blind Constitution, we need a religion-blind one, too. Neither may the government endorse or prohibit the right to practice our own religions…

Definitely sue, if you can prove the discrimination is based soley on religion! And quote the 1st…

I’m just glad I live in Scranton, where Catholicism is the predominant faith.

The document sounded silly until I read this statement:

The Board of Supervisors urges Archbishop Niederauer and the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of San Francisco to defy all discriminatory directives of Cardinal Levada…

That means that any directives regarding

adultery…
birth control…
female priests…

Instead of looking for a job in San Fran. I would encourage all Catholics to move out of San Fran. I am sure that businesses would love the fact that the Catholics left, and I am sure that the city treasurer would love the fact that all the Catholics left. Maybe they may have to cut a few jobs in the City Manager’s office. And if anyone asks why your quitting on San Francisco, hold up the resolution and say proudly:

I WAS EVICTED.

Junipero Serra is rolling over in his grave, or reliquary.

They want Catholics to move out of San Francisco. In fact, they’d like us all to leave the country. So if Catholics leave, that rewards them for their bigotry.

But if we start suing for discrimination, that hits them where it hurts.
