The Co-op Bank which claims to be an inclusive, ethical bank, has asked Christian Voice to close its accounts with them. Christian Voice has become high profile recently in leading opposition to the screening on the BBC of the blasphemous show Jerry Springer – The Opera. Christian Voice has criticised the Co-op Bank for sponsoring events such as Gay-Pride while not supporting pro-life causes. For the full story on the Christian Voice web site see christianvoice.org.uk/Press/press001.html
I mention this because there was a report in the July 3 edition of The Catholic Times that the Scottish Catholic Media Office, who just recently moved its account to the Co-op for its supposed ethical policies is to “look at reviewing” its relationship with the bank. Peter Kearney, director of the Catholic Media Office said the Co-op’s decision “smacked of intolerance”.

So well done the Scottish Catholic Media Office – I hope they take action, not just review it.
Has anyone seen any more examples of this sort of attempt to bully outspoken Christian groups ?
