Yeah, I’m sure everyone is in unbrage with the Bible.

Everyone = Richard Dawkins.

God IS surely both Father and Mother. We are made in His image. Therefore, He must be both male and female.
Jesus Himself prayed to His Father in Heaven. And Jesus was “a man like us in all things but sin”. Jesus was “the son of David, the son of Abraham” (Matthew 1:1). And He also was definitely male, based on Luke 2:21, “When eight days were completed for his circumcision, he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.” [both quotes from the NAB]

Just remember, whoever ads to or takes things out of the scriptures are most likely going to spend their eternity in a really really hot place.

Why does altering the Bible mean one must go to Arizona ? 😃

I wonder if they leave out the bits that talk about bodily functions - Muslims are fond of quoting those. One assumes they leave in the bits which talk about corporal punishment (never for girls, BTW - now that is sexism).

OTOH, maybe we’ll hear about the Ms. of Babylon, as in Rev. 17.5 ##

In the first sentence you say that we are created in His image.
In the second sentence you say that He must be in our image.
Pick one please

Welcome to feminist society folks

Such things as honesty have been replaced with ‘sensitivity’, even the Bible it seems.

Hell, Im not even Christian and yet I find this stupid. Down with Feminism!

There were many branches of Gnostic beliefs. The early Catholic Church did a fairly good job of killing most Gnostics and burning their books.

Nowadays the Catholic Church is not allowed to burn you at the stake for holding Gnostic beliefs, so I would guess they are making a comeback.
 This came as a surprise to me. Would you please give me sources that the early church killed Gnostics. My brief search on the internet seems to say the opposite.

Especially notable for their extended and uninterrupted presence up until the modern era are the followers of the Persian Prophet Mani, the Manicheans; and the Pre-Christian Mandaeans who still survive in Iraq and Iran.

I have found some sites but they are unreliable to me. I would prefer books rather than the internet. The Catholic Encylcodedia is a book on line so if there other books on line supporting this I would be interested.

The church itself never executed heretics, what it did do is excomunnicate anyone that was a heretic. The states themselves had punishments for heretics, and the church would deliver the heretic to the state.

I feel bad for people who think that “men” automatically refers to the male gender. It clearly demonstrates a basic lack of knowledge in those people who find it impossible to deal with the fact that “men” can mean all mankind. How hard is it to grasp? Surely not that difficult. If that makes people feel excluded, then I feel bad that they lack that much self-esteem, or the ability to use a dictionary
I always say “For us MEN and for our salvation” very loud, just to upset the politically correct members of my congregation who say “For us, and for our salvation”
It really sounds silly the mumble that occurs at this part in Mass.

I agree, MEN means MANKIND. And I am a woman:D

I am a woman, too, and I always say “For us MEN and for our salvation” as well. Many people butcher English grammar. “They” is a plural pronoun. If referring to one person, whether male or female, the correct pronoun in the sentence is “he”. Don’t get me started on the politically correct hymns, either. “Joy to the World” sounds ridiculous with the lyrics changed to “Let all their songs employ”. All what? Birds, people, etc? “Let MEN their songs employ” sounds fine, and that is how I sing it.

I REALLY hate to rain on our parade but those illustrious shepherds - aka the US bishops - have approved a new translation of the Credo which omits the word “men”, and all those politically-correct ideologues will think they have won when we are forced to proclaim “Who for us and for our salvation”. Which is why I still recite the Gloria, Credo, Agnus Dei in LATIN the way they were recited when I was an altar boy in the early 60s. Repeat after me:

“Qui propter nos homines et propter nostram salutem descendit de coelis.”

In the Beginning there was God, and the Word was with God, and the Word is God, … and the Word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us.

God came into the world as Jesus, both God and Man. God is masculine. He is not a She or a female.

One of my major problems is claiming that God is a Woman, or female.

Jesus called God Our Father, in masculine tone, not Mother.

These liberals are better off becoming Gnostics because they believe in Sophie Goddess, who they believe is the wife of God, the Father… (Correct me if I’m incorrect about Gnostic beliefs)

Sorry about the above post. It originally has a reply attached to it.

Sophia is actually one of the Aeons in Gnostic belief.
How come God becomes gender-neutral while Satan is masculine? Can’t we form a ‘Masculinist Movement’ protesting the continuing degradation of males in society? 😃

Mention of the ladies in the Liturgy as well as of that “men” word is not altogether modern: there are Mediaeval precedents; though it is extremely ignorant to barbarise the English language in the way that many objectors to the use of “men” as a common gender collective noun do. (Even worse is the confusion between sex & gender; nouns are gendered, people are sexed)

These people do not know English. I’m 14 and not a Native speaker of English (my third language; others are Tagalog and Japanese) yet i knew Men in some cases mean humans in general. (Then again it might be because I read a lot of old books using ‘man’ when I was a kid).

I usually expect those to know the English language better since they are Native Speakers.
I just hope English wouldn’t go the same road as Japanese (In the Japanese media, words for blind, deaf, leper, crazy, farmers, etc. were usually replaced with euphemisms. So in the media, to say ‘blind’ is frowned upon and banned and euphemisms were used such as ‘A person whose eyes cannot see’… 😃

What I want to know is, can a woman become the Antichrist ?

Why can’t there be an antiChristine ? ##

CONTROVERSIAL “POLITICALLY CORRECT” VERSION OF THE BIBLE PUBLISHED IN GERMANY

Berlin, Nov. 09, 2006 (CNA) - A group of 52 biblical “specialists” have released a new version of the Bible in which inclusive language and “political correctness” have replaced some “divisive” teachings of Christianity in order to present a “more just language” for groups such as feminists and homosexuals.

According to the AFP news agency, the new version of the Sacred Scriptures was presented at a book fair in Frankfurt. Entitled, “The Bible in a More Just Language,” the translation has Jesus no longer referring to God as “Father,” but as “our Mother and Father who are in heaven.”

“our Mother and Father”?   Are they putting words in Jesus’ mouth? To me, it is kind of like saying, “By popular vote, you lose Jesus. Your teachings are too hard to follow so we’re going to water it down.”

Warmest regards,
Ben
That’s pretty much the saddest commentary on modernist culture that I have heard so far.

Unfortunately, English has been going down that wrong road for quite a while now. In fact, I suspect that more people who are not native speakers of English may be less prone to corrupting the language. You probably learned English from a course that still uses a traditional textbook. That will change too once those politically correct radicals invade English as Second Language courses!

Actually I learned English in Grade School in the Philippines.

I can’t imagine the Bible being ‘politically correct.’

They might as well remove wholeBooks from the Scriptures that are Politically incorrect than alter them into something hideous!
