“You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; such a thing is an abomination”

Lv 18: 22

Genesis 1:27-28: “God created man in His image; in the divine image He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them, saying: ‘Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.’”

Genesis 2:18, 21-24: “The LORD God said: ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a suitable partner for him.’ So the LORD God cast a deep sleep on the man, and while he was asleep, He took out one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. The LORD God then built up into a woman the rib that He had taken from the man. When He brought her to the man, the man said: ‘This one, at last, is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; This one shall be called “woman,” for out of “her man” this one has been taken.’ That is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one body.”

Romans 1:25-28, 32: “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and revered and worshiped the creature rather than the Creator, Who is blessed forever. Amen. Therefore, God handed them over to degrading passions. Their females exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the males likewise gave up natural relations with females and burned with lust for one another. Males did shameful things with males and thus received in their own persons the due penalty for their perversity. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God handed them over to their undiscerning mind to do what is improper. Although they know the just decree of God that all who practice such things deserve death, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.”

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
1601 “The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.” (Codex Iuris Canonici, can. 1055 # 1; cf. Gaudium et Spes 48 # 1)

1652 “By its very nature the institution of marriage and married love is ordered to the procreation and education of the offspring and it is in them that it finds its crowning glory.” (GS 48 # 1; 50)
“Children are the supreme gift of marriage and contribute greatly to the good of the parents themselves. God Himself said: ‘It is not good that man should be alone,’ (Gen. 2:18) and ‘from the beginning [He] made them male and female’ (Matt. 19:4); wishing to associate them in a special way in His own creative work, God blessed man and woman with the words: ‘Be fruitful and multiply’ (Gen. 1:28). Hence, true married love and the whole structure of family life which results from it, without diminishment of the other ends of marriage, are directed to disposing the spouses to cooperate valiantly with the love of the Creator and Savior, Who through them will increase and enrich His family from day to day.” (GS 50 # 1; cf. Gen 2:18; Mt 19:4; Gen 1:28)

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity (Cf. Gen 19:1-29; Rom 1:24-27; 1 Cor 6:10; 1 Tim 1:10), tradition has always declared that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.” (Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Persona Humana 8) They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

For those dealing with same sex attractions: Courage, an apostolate of the Roman Catholic Church, ministers to those with same-sex attractions and their loved ones. From [their] website you will learn about homosexuality and chastity. By developing an interior life of chastity, which is the universal call to all Christians, one can move beyond the confines of the homosexual identity to a more complete one in Christ: couragerc.net/
