Another story, noting other acts of vandalism in SoCal:

Californians - any idea who would do this? Anarchists looking for something to burn? Gay rights protestors getting carried away? Evangelicals drunk on Jack Chick? Nativists looking for a way to lash out at Hispanics?

Last night I encouraged a friend on Facebook who said she felt embarrassed calling herself a Christian around her gay friends. I was pounced on by my friend’s stepmother who essentially blamed her and I for the Inquisition, the Crusades, etc - events that we have zero control or culpability for. And yet this is the mindset that pervades and justifies actions like this.

We’ve not had vandalism for a few years in St. Louis, though the last time there was news of a priest who had been accused of pedophilia several Catholic cemetaries were desecrated and one statue of the Blessed Virgin was decapitated. Strange how you never see playground equipment at schools being torched or windows smashed when a teacher is accused of the same…
