For some reason no one has tried to answer my question about the other 72 disciples that Jesus sent out to preach the gospel. They were also blessed with the same authortiy s Peter. So what makes you believe that they didn’t “lay hands” and pass that authority on to somone other than a leader of the CC?

You will know them by their fruits; you would do well to listen to someone who knows the word of God as John MacArthur does. He has suffered many trials and has been faithful to the Word his entire life in the preaching, teaching and the way he has lived his life. Of course that is my opinion, but I God will prove the truth of my opinion; I look forward to fellowship with John MacArthur in heaven. There are about 8-10K former Catholics that would testify to that truth.
if this is your taken, how about the other billion Catholics who testify to the Truth of the CC? and the Saints, and the Fathers, and the Apostles and the Holy Spirit promised to the Church, and Jesus the builder of the Church? or they dont count?

do you have any quote from the Fathers like this one testifying to your church?

**“I should not believe the Gospel except as moved by the authority of the Catholic Church.”
Saint Augustine (354-430), Against the Letter of Mani, 5,6, 397 **A.D…

**You asked a question and I gave you an answer; apparently you don’t like. I did not expect you to like the answer, but have enough respect to say “I disagree” without the diatribe.

A billion Catholics; that is quite a very large number. How many of those are of the Cafeteria variety? Just thinking out loud.

You apparently do not know this; but the Holy Spirit indwells individuals; not institutions. You see the “C” in Church is not used in Scripture, but the little “c” is used throughout. **

words, words, is that all you have? i have them too.

what i want is evidence. you know like that one quote.
show me ****how many councils your churches had? show me where your churches took part on the council that compiled the Bible?

show me where all the Fathers of the Church were all wrong in testify to the Catholic church?

i want evidence only, i dont want your opinion, i also have opinion, i dont need yours.

You could careless about what truth is; your truth in not my truth; God will decide.

Truth is truth! There is one Church established by Christ. Not 33,000. There is one body of Christ, not 33,000. Truth doesn’t contradict truth Seeking.

The best thing at this point is to just let Seeking12 be.
He obviously is set in his opinions and ways and is not interested in a true dialog or answering legitimate questions. His faith is what it is and that’s all that it is.
He is right however in that God will be the Judge of all of us based upon how well we follow Christ.
May we ALL strive to grow in holiness in HIS sight.

James

That is small part of your problem; you misunderstand the nature of Jesus church; it is made of individuals, not denominations like Catholic or Methodist.**

You simply refuse to be logical about this. History doesn’t support your theory. That’s what you have, a theory. Read the Early Church Fathers and get some perspective brother. Peace be with you~!

Sure it does; just not your history. Is God’s elect an individual at a time, when Jesus gives a new heart, is that one at a time. Or does the Vatican have a collection of hearts provided by the Holy Spirit for the Church to watch over and pass out as needed?

I started to answer earlier.
I’m not sure what you mean by authority. Yes the 72 were sent out in pairs and given the Authority to heal and cleanse etc. However i don’t see where they were given the Authority to “Bind and Loose” that Peter and the 12 Apostles were given.
Furthermore one must realize that these 72 were all followers of Christ and were certainly members of the early Church under the direction of the Apostles. Therefore any actions they might have taken during their ministerial lifetimes would have been within the context of the original Church (that is “Catholic”).
Finally I would be careful about confusing Gifts and Authority. Healing and various other Gifts are manifestations of the Holy Spirit. Authority is that which is given of God to Peter and the twelve, and through them and their successors, to the Church.
In the particular passage to which you refer, Christ Gave them Authority over unclean spirits etc, and not over the establishment of a Church.

James

So when we “Tell it to the Church”, How many “individuals” do we need to assemble to meet this requirement of Jesus?

Yes the Church is made up of individuals just as a country is made up of individuals. That does not mean there is no advantage to a government.

James

Prove it! Where does one Early Church Father support your idea of this invisible church? Same your time, they don’t support you on this, brother. Look at Matt 18:17. How can we take it to an invisible church? How many individuals make up this church Jesus talks about? It is clear in scripture that Jesus established an authoritative church!

Why do you constantly change your font sizes? In some other post you said you type in ALL CAPS so that it’s easy to read. So should I conclude that you are being cruel in not awarding me the same respect?

You have me confused with someone else; I never said I use all caps. I do use a larger font, which is probably what you are referring to. I’m having an inconsistent font day…sorry.

Yes that’s what I am referring to.

Seeking 12, why are you here posting on this site? Is it to try to convert catholics to your view of Jesus’ Church? Is it to bless someone with the “peace that passes understanding”? Why are you here? It can only be one of two things. You are here to try to convert catholics to whatever or you are here because the Holy Spirit is moving you toward the truth. I pray that our Lord will accomplish that work in you?
In His service,
Stan
