This April will mark the 100th anniversary of Saint Joan of Arc’s Beatification. The official pronouncement by Pope Pius X was issued on April 11, 1909. The ceremony at the Vatican took place on April 18, 1909. I was able to find the official pronouncement in the Acta Apostolicae Sedis for 1909 and get it translated. It is very interesting to read as the Pope relates Joan’s history and why she deserves the designation of Blessed. I set up a special page containing the translated pronouncement as well as a picture and a newspaper article about the ceremony that is available at Joan of Arc’s Beatification

Hope you enjoy the page and will take a moment this April to remember this great woman of God.👍

I sure will. It’s a long story, but she introduced me to the church, and she introduced me to my fiance. 😃

Winston Churchill said of her, she was the purest soul for a hundred years…

check out Mark Twain’s book on Joan of Arc. I don’t think it’s the best book he ever wrote, but his introduction is pure gold.

Yes, his introduction makes me cry. He hit the nail on the head. What was extraordinary about her was not that she was some sort of cross-dressing 15th century feminist.
Or a lucky sczioprhrenic . She could not have done what she did without supernatural help.
A documented case, under oath, of a supernatural event. What interest God had in the dynastic affairs of France in the 15th century , we will never know. But that it happened cannot be disputed. Thanks for the link. I accidentally left my copy of Twain’s book in New Orleans.

Fantastic! I know that this year marks the 580th anniversary of her victory at Orleans-I never thought about the 100th anniversary of her beatification!

I read the article from the ‘MaidofHeaven’ site. I was surprised to see the NY Times story about the beatification. Boy, they wouldn’t do that sort of story these days!

St. Joan, please pray for us!

She was my “temporary” patron saint when I was in the Navy. A great example for all women serving in the Armed Forces!
