Thanks for the link that’s really neat. During World War 2 my dad was in Rome at St.Peter’s.He and a friend Gordon Mellon happend to be speaking to a priest.I guess they must have mentioned the catacombs to him because he told them he was in charge of them.
father asked if they would like a tourand they said yes. Daddy said that the good father took them into areas of the catacombs no tourists ever go to.After the tour was over they gave him some money for his time . My dad also visited Pompeii with his friend.Gordon was a professor of archaic languages at the University of Minnesota if I recall.
I hope some day to go to Rome and check them out myself.
