‘We will do what Allah has instructed us’. She said: ‘I’m not going, I’m not going. Don’t kill me, don’t kill me.’ “A few minutes later more than 50 men tried to stone her.”

Ain’t this sick?!

A young woman recently stoned to death in Somalia first pleaded for her life, a witness has told the BBC.

“Don’t kill me, don’t kill me,” she said, according to the man who wanted to remain anonymous. A few minutes later, more than 50 men threw stones.
Human rights group Amnesty International says the victim was a 13-year-old girl who had been raped.
Initial reports had said she was a 23-year-old woman who had confessed to adultery before a Sharia court.
Numerous eye-witnesses say she was forced into a hole, buried up to her neck then pelted with stones until she died in front of more than 1,000 people last week.
Meanwhile, Islamists in the capital, Mogadishu have carried out a public flogging.

The story said that she was 23, went before the courts, admitted she was guilty, and BEGGED for the stoning. Wow. I have never heard of anyone asking to be put to death, other than martyrs.

The flogging one confuses me. The two men were convicted of killing an alleged thief and torturing his mother. ONe paid a fine and the other got beaten.

Why is murder and torture of a woman punished by flogging or a fine and adultry (if you beleive them) punished by death?

there is no punishment for rape victim; rapist is supposed to get death penalty.

regarding Quran , punishment is lashing for both men & women.

Anyway , it’s better for anyone to get punishment in this world & offer sincere repentance before death approaches. So that s/he can expect the mercy of God on the last day.

So very sad. But this IS the state of things in such a backwards country. And if I remember right it was SHE who had a crime committed on HER. The perps are probably off scot free.

O’ the wonderful justice of Islamic law :takethat:

huh…as if u don’t know Jesus (p) tells you to burn alive the woman (daughter of high priest ) if she commits adultery.

Of all the things going on in Somalia right now, and you pick this as an opportunity to bash Islam?

Good grief.

Somali is the product of Islam and its founder. I’m not bashing no one, just expose the truth behind the religion of piece.

Actually, I do not entirely disagree.

Sister Amy,
Is the punishment for adultry in the Sharaia stoning? I know it is the same for both the man and the woman, but what is it?

Also, is it acceptable to kill an accused theif with no trial and torture his mother? What is the proper Muslim penulty for that?

In some ways, the flogging story bothers me more.

can you explain more please? who is the man and why kill the thief?
That article said that a man was flogged after he and his friend killed an aledged thief and torured the thief’s mother. THe friend had to pay a fine.
He says two men accused of helping to kill a man and torture his mother, who they accused of theft, were each given 39 lashes in the north-eastern suburb of Suqa-hola.
The man who actually killed the alleged thief was released, after agreeing to pay his family 100 camels in compensation.

inJESUS;4498239:
So, what about man killing a thief before trial? Or torturing his mother?
the man in question must appeal to the Islamic court if the court is based on sharia, in order to punish the thief; he is not supposed to execute the punishment, which isn’t death anyway but cutting hands. As to his own act of murder, the slain person’s family can ask for his death as a punishment, or money for compensation, called blood money.

I wonder where the flogging came in.

Yeah, and kidnapping in our country is a capital offense which means a possible death sentence. Get it? Death comes in many forms. Sometimes it comes like that instance in Africa. When it comes for you will you be ready? Don’t think you’re ready yet? Good. Go to Confession and let God have His peace with your poor soul. Stay that way and have a few holy hours for those you love. Don’t love anyone but God? How about the poor souls in Purgatory? Oh God…

Peace,

Gail
