According to news reports the initial tests show that 8 of the 9 students tested positive for the swine flu. The samples were sent to the CDC in Atlanta for secondary tests and final confirmation.Scary as this is, there is NO CONFIRMATION that these students actually have ‘swine’ flu.

I will add my prayers for their swift and complete recovery and that this epidemic is stopped quickly in its tracks so as their families do not contact the disease as well.

I will pray for them but there are only 28 confirmed cases of Swine Flu in New York according the Center for Disease Control (CDC). The other states had even fewer confirmed cases.

My husband grew up very close to St. Francis prep and attended Holy Cross. When he heard that the students that were infected had been to Mexico for Spring break, he felt that it might be a punishment for all of the sin that occurs on those trips. And weren’t people being forewarned not to go to Mexico because of all of the drug/war violence there anyway? They must have had a bold defiance to go regardless, or parents that don’t have much authority in the home over their children’s behavior. May God have Mercy on them all. Our family has been praying for all of the victims and their families, but like all suffering, we must trust that God will bring a greater good out of it. The worst is happening in Mexico City, so Our Lady of Guadalupe is being invoked. +“She is here(I am)… She is(I am your) our Mother”+. (words to St.Juan Diego from Our Lady).
