1962 Missal Versions

Does anyone know if any of the versions discussed here will be publishing updated editions to include new saints (i.e. St. Theresa Benedicta a Cruce, (Edith Stein, Ph.D.), or St. Josemaria Escriva), with accompanying prayers? Or if the old calendar will even be altered to accommodate new saints?

And please, forgive my ignorance if I am offending anyone with these questions -I truly mean no harm. I am only asking because it is quite a lot of money to put down now, if there are new editions in the works.

There are currently absolutely zero additions to the Saints for the EF calendar publicly in the works. The Pope, when he reauthorized the use of the EF, did say that they “can and should” be inserted, but nothing so far has happened officially. So there is nothing to worry about in that regard.
 
I hope that this is not off the topic, but I have a question about 1962 Sunday missals. I have a beautiful Baronius Press Daily Missal, and three copies of the nice paper back Latin-English Sunday Missal for the 1962 Mass published by Roman Catholic Books to use when we invite guests to come the EF Mass with us. That missal does not have the readings in it. The Baronius Missal is big and heavy so I would like to find a Sunday Missal to bring to Mass on Sundays. I found a prayer book on line called Blessed Be God by Msgrs. Charles Callan and John McHugh which looks like a nice little book which I could put in my purse. It is described as having Sunday Epistles and Gospels. It doesn’t say “propers.” Has anyone seen this prayerbook who could tell me if they can use it for Sunday Mass? If it is appropriate for Mass, I will order two, one for myself and one for my husband. Thanks, everyone.

Hi Marysann,

Do you have a Catholic bookstore in the area? They might have an open copy you can take a look at and get an idea if it’s something you want. Just a suggestion!

Thanks, Exorcist, but I live in Italy, and there are no English language Catholic bookstores here. There are some English prayerbooks sold at the Vatican bookstore, but I have not seen missals for the EF there. I get all of my religious books from internet stores. In fact, I have read that some American missals cannot be sold in Europe because of copyright restrictions. I will be grateful for any help I can get with this.
