2 California deputies shot in apparent ambush in patrol car

The shooting of two sheriff’s deputies in California in an apparent ambush has prompted a search for the shooter, reaction from President Donald Trump, and a protest

COMPTON, Calif. – The shooting of two Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies in an apparent ambush prompted a manhunt for the shooter, reaction from the president and protests outside the hospital where the wounded deputies were being treated Saturday night in California.
The story continues:
Protesters gathered outside the emergency room at the hospital where the injured deputies were being treated.

“To the protesters blocking the entrance & exit of the HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM yelling “We hope they die” referring to 2 LA Sheriff’s ambushed today in #Compton: DO NOT BLOCK EMERGENCY ENTRIES & EXITS TO THE HOSPITAL,” the sheriff’s department tweeted. “People’s lives are at stake when ambulances can’t get through.”
This is disgusting, the emboldened above, I heard this was happening.

Unfortunately, every time we have some long round of anti-police protests in USA, it ends up with police being ambushed and killed.

Praying for the recovery of the officers - I just edited this because I saw they’re apparently still alive.

I hope this gets the remaining “protests” shut down once and for all. Blocking the hospital entrances is disgusting. But sadly it’s about what I expect from those who are continuing to protest at this point.

If I were still a cop I’d quit my job. I’ve encouraged everyone I know still in law enforcement to find other work, there’s no sense in risking your life for a country that despises you.

Fortunately the police I have known in RL are all either retired now or passed away of natural causes.

There are some cities where the police are greatly appreciated and have a good rapport with the community, or at least with most of the community. If a police officer can serve in one of those cities then it’s not such a bad job, although there’s still a risk of being injured or killed by the bad element that sadly exists everywhere (which is why we need the police - if the element doesn’t live in your town then it will be driving in from two towns over looking to rob and commit mayhem).
Obviously Compton is not one of those police-friendly cities.

Video shows an oddly short shooter.

Actual shots fired, which shows the best image of the shooter, was edited out of that one.

I would also call on cops to quit their jobs.

Contrary to popular belief, cops don’t actually work especially dangerous jobs. They have pretty good unions and even after murdering someone you can retire early and get benefits out of it.

I think that urban police have a much worse relationship with the public in France.

Some police are said to be low-paid though. I agree that one can find the highly paid, highly pensioned jobs. That sounds like what those officers in Minneapolis had.

The police Unions seem to be a problem. They are the ones that may negotiate for those choke holds which some experts say aren’t needed, a whole other topic in that.

I support the police, I am wary of the Unions.

Police unions are a problem. There were quite a few cops I worked with over the years that should have been terminated but weren’t because of union reps and lawyers.

Lol they weren’t blocking anything, if anyone was blocking the parking lot entrance it was the line of cops standing there. Given how quickly they brutalized a credentialed reporter at the hospital and given how generally violent police become when one of them gets shot if these protesters were doing anything wrong they would have been attacked. That’s why they tweeted that out, they were mad they couldn’t do anything and wanted to farm some sympathy points.

Massive kudos, keep up the good work. Every single cop off the streets makes the world a better place.

I wonder why the LASD, which has been running violent deputy gangs out of their substations for decades, and just a couple months ago shot and killed an 18 year old kid in the back as part of a deputy gang initiation, doesn’t have a good rapport with the community.

Academics who study unions say police unions function more as fraternities than labor organizations since police aren’t under threat from capital. That’s where a lot of the horrible police culture is developed.

Oh, really. This is a Catholic Forum. The protester just saying they hoped the wounded die is horrible enough. Amazing. For the millionth time in this forum, if there is a problem, police killing blacks is not statistically high. I’d be protesting other forms of violence. And always “lol” doesn’t seem to respect the issue.

No, people want the police out there.

He’s of the same mind I am. This country could use some real problems to get people off the made up ones.
