Yes, I can deny responsibility. Are you serious?

First you have to prove that the GOP would do anything different on social issues than the Dems would. On abortion the Dems would have a difficult time pressing the envelope any farther than Roe v Wade did already, so opposition to abortion on the GOPs part really means rolling back the abortion industries gains and when the GOP had solid majorities in both houses of Congress as well as the White House, they did NOTHING to expend ‘political capital’ (favors, horse trading, etc) to roll back abortion in this country. They did not even try to get abortion clinics put under the same health standards as a first aid clinic which would increase abortion costs and reduce the number of abortions.

The NRA’s success at protecting gun rights is the model the pro Life community should be following. The NRA is willing to work with both parties and uses its resources well over all to focus on sustaining its ability to impact legislation and purge gun grabbing fascists from office.

And the NRA starts by not allowing itself to become an auxiliary of either party.

Social conservatives need to learn that lesson also.
So you believe the GOP should have had a better strategy to oppose abortion in the early 2000’s when they controlled congress and the white house. Okay. Got it. So that it why you will sit at home in 2016? That doesn’t make sense. Plus, newsflash: if it wasn’t for the GOP at the state level there wouldn’t be all these abortion clinics closing as we’ve seen them do in the news reports the past few years in states like Texas. So do you not vote for GOP at the state level too? Stay home until they get the perfect candidate? You do not make sense.

Actually people who don’t vote do as much damage as those who vote for left wing candidates. They refuse to make the hard decisions and vote for less than perfect candidates and then sit on the sidelines throwing stones and everyone while proclaiming their doctrinal purity. They also often guilty of the great degree of arrogance-having a decided that they are the ones who are the arbiter of what a “true conservative” is. They throw around terms like “RINO” , again under their assumption they also get the decide what a “true” Republican is .

Another thing I find interesting is many times you will find that those who decry the republican party for not nominating candidates conservative enough seem to be liberals. For instance you can often find in CAF posters who claim Republican nominees are not conservative enough while in other threads they defend the ACA and hype AGW.
To describe Romney as ‘less than perfect’ is absurd. The man ADVOCATES WHAT I OPPOSE and what the CHURCH OPPOSES.

There is no valid difference between RINOS and Democrats other than party label, and that is a sham.

In 2012 what did Romney advocate that the Church opposes?

Bush reinstated the Mexico City accords that Clinton had abrogated and which Obama abrogated after he won. Henry Hyde produced the Hyde Amendment over Dem opposition. The only state limits (as in my state recently) on abortion have been produced by Republicans over the objections of Democrats. In the “partial birth abortion” case, ALL of the justices who upheld that ban were Repub appointees. ALL of those who supported partial birth abortion were Dem appointees. Obamacare funds abortion. Every Repub voted against it.

This argument that the Repubs are no different is just a Democrat diversionary tactic to deceive the poorly informed. One ought to feel a moral obligation to study it before declaring himself a party to it.

Accept the responsibility. He who fails to oppose the party of death with his best efforts is complicit with it. One should not allow his pride to make him a supporter of abortion.

Its not about you, RGCheek, and its not about liberalism. Its about the secular left. As Ridgerunner pointed out so well, the left has a serious agenda for our country. They’ve been trying to implement it for decades, piecemeal. With Obama, they’ve had some huge successes and we really are close to the point of no return. Elect the leftist Democrats and you will soon find out the different between them and a Boehner, or a Romney.

Ishii
It is not only a serious agenda, it’s a dangerous agenda. Unfortunately, there are too many low-information and gullible voters out there, and they quite frankly, just aren’t paying attention. I’ve had the discussion with friends about there being a limited window to turn things around before it’s too late, and they think my spool has come unwound.

Exactly. People I know are so mad at Obama now that the truth of the ACA has come out, yet when I call them out on their having voted for him, they will say all politicians are alike.

I can’t wait to do the taxes of my son and his friends and see the look on their faces when they find out they will have to pay a penalty for not having health insurance.

There will be a lot of uproar come April 15 from those who voted for Obama and from those who didn’t bother to vote against him.

Why don’t they have health insurance?

I was talking to a client of mine this morning who also works for the Library. She is in charge of ordering IRS forms for the Library. I told her to be sure to order the forms that calculate the penalty for not having insurance-I am sure it will be in great demand.

Because most young people don’t see a need for it.
Well, that was a specific question for Qui.

But, to your point, if that’s the reason young people don’t have insurance, is that reasonable? If they don’t have insurance and are ill, do they have the resources to pay for their healthcare? If they don’t, who does pay for it?

They don’t because they don’t think they can cost justify it. If they don’t have it and get sick or hurt they will show up at the emergency room just like anyone else who is uninsured. As an interesting sidebar if one shows up at the emergency room with a serious illness, say the need for a bypass, it is profitable for the Hospital to immediately enroll them in an exchange and pay the premium and deductible for them

So, they will show up at an emergency room and incurs charges and then who will pay for it?

They can work out a payment plan with the hospital and the doctor.

I think we’re stepping into dangerous territory when the government decides how to protect people from themselves.

Bingo, and statistics bear that out. That’s the reason the ACA is so worried about not enough young people signing up. They need their money to support the older people who are at higher risk.

I think you’re right about this. Also, if a person underestimated his income, he’s going to get hit with a higher tax bill than he expected. And from what I understand about glitches others have encountered in other ways, there’s not much reason to expect any major degree of accuracy in any of it.

So in a country full of different religious faiths and traditions you’re going to demand the candidate be in full agreement with every catholic moral teaching? Anyone who expects that is living in an unrealistic dreamworld. And the effect of that thinking is to allow evil to prevail.

Folks, at a time when we need to unite around common basic goals I urge all of you to reject the simplistic approach to voting displayed by some posters on CAF. Expect to see more of them come out of the woodwork now and in 2016 claiming to be conservative Catholics but always advocating actions which end up helping the secular leftists.

I am not a fan of Mitt Romney — BUT he is a thousand times better man than Barack Obama. Romney would not have been on a mission to diminish and destroy America and its Constitution, and he actually respects the people who take risks and help America succeed. Rob :o

They don’t want to pay for it. Too expensive. Cheapest policy is around $400.00/month.
Really? Wow. These are the costs through the exchange, right?

He must live somewhere very expensive since the costs are much higher than where I live where the cheaper plans run around $150 a month and do a good job of covering the worst case scenarios.

Keeping everything in one place, the problem I see with your son’s view is that, if something bad does happen, he won’t be working out a plan with the hospital, he’ll be declaring bankruptcy and passing those costs onto the rest of us. I’ve seen estimates that more than 1 million bankruptcies will be a result of healthcare costs. I don’t have a problem with people that don’t have health insurance being taxed at a higher rate because of it.

I think romney would have made a good president in many ways. Unfortunately there are those who have such a high standard that it’s unlikely they will ever be satisfied with a GOP nominee. That is their right but I’ll always remind them that the effect of their actions is to make it easier for evil to prevail.
