god isn’t a set.Which Aleph order is god supposed to be? Can god be infinitely infinite?

sure. but being omnipotent doesn’t entail being able to perform logically impossible actions. We had the example with the rock.
…or an omnipotent god could terminate his own existence
…or create another god with equal powers. Would he then be able to defend himself against that other omnipotent god, if that one wants to terminate his (the first one) existence? If no he is obviously not omnipotent, if yes the other is not omnipotent, thus the first one was not able to create an omnipotent god… …
Newton was a smart guy. Newton was a Christian. Therefore God exists.i don’t. what’s the irony? they’re pointing out that if some of the greatest mathematicians we’ve ever had were christians, and christians know that there is an omniscient God, then the two concepts must not be mutually exclusive.
cs lewis pointed out the absurdity of this argument. nonsense, he says, does not cease to be nonsense just because we put ‘God can’ in front of it.Like terminating his own existence?
Like creating other gods like him?
Like creating a universe not exposed to the influence of any god including himself?
Like creating mathematics disproving his own existence?
it’s not a syllogism. it’s a reason to put doubt (which can damn the soul) aside and believe.Newton was a smart guy. Newton was a Christian. Therefore God exists
Ok, but why is creating another omnipotent being logically impossible?sure. but being omnipotent doesn’t entail being able to perform logically impossible actions.
it’s not.Ok, but why is creating another omnipotent being logically impossible?
OK. Now, replace truths with integers in the original proof.Oh yes, that works with sets containing an infinite number of elements. btw there is a set of all integers.
This is an intrinsic impossibility. First of all looking at the Luke chapter 1 the Angel Gabriel tells the Blessed Virgin Mary ….”for nothing is impossible with God.”
- God can’t make a rock bigger than He can lift. Therefore, God does not exist.
this is actually one of the principle theorems of set theory: the power set of an infinite set has a greater cardinality than the infinite set.OK. Now, replace truths with integers in the original proof.
Assume the set of all integers. Also, assume the power set of all integers. Now, reduce the sets to finite sets as you did with the original proof. Thus, the power set contains more elements than the set of all integers.I don’t think we have proven anything with this.
no, it only proves that He’s not omnipotent.Just because God cannot do things that go against His nature do not prove He does not exist.
not even that much: it proves only that those things are logically impossible.no, it only proves that He’s not omnipotent.
If you say that there are no absolute truths, then this statement is not true. It is self-defeating. This is a contradiction in itself. .
- There are no absolute truths (except that God does not exist). Therefore, God does not exist.
You cannot jump naked off an 80-story building and expect to fly, therefore YOU do not exist…no, it only proves that He’s not omnipotent.
On the contrary, it should be “Sin is fun, therefore HELL exists for them”***13. Sin is fun. Therefore, God does not exist
Every human on earth has a different opinion. All of those opinions can’t be correct, but all of them could be wrong. Therefore humanity does not exist.
- There are many different religions. All of them can’t be correct, but all of them could be wrong. Therefore, God does not exist.
and
- Many smart people are Atheists. I am smart. Therefore, God does not exist.
Another contradiction on these two.
- The Bible doesn’t make sense to me. Therefore, God does not exist.
"I am smart?":whacky:
Nevertheless, the conclusion is absurd.this is actually one of the principle theorems of set theory: the power set of an infinite set has a greater cardinality than the infinite set.
